William McKillian Jr., a 19-year-old black man, was shot and killed Tuesday, Nov. 3, in the 600 block of Westminster Avenue in Venice, authorities said.

He was confronted by at least one attacker who opened fire about 3:30 p.m. No arrests have been made, the LAPD said.

The Los Angeles Unified School District sent a memo to teachers in Venice, alerting them about the shooting deaths of two former students on Nov. 3 and asking them to watch for any suspicious activity. The memo said McKillian attended Venice High for a short period.

Laniece, let me start off by saying, I agree with you as far as "Venice" speaking their OPINION and yes, all people have a right to their OPINION! However, having an OPINION does not give anyone the right to place judgement on someone who they do not in fact know or had any dealings with. I can almost bet you that 'Venice' does not have a clean slate and I know damn well that God did not appoint 'Venice' or any other 'High & Mighty' Opinionated person on earth the power to place judgement or speak ill words of another or to crucify their character. If either of you feel that you have been given this special task, I suggest you both take yourselves & your opinion to the closest church to you and donate to lighting a candle and begging God for his forgiveness of thinking you are him!
I'm also curious what 'Venice' considers HOOD. . . Especially when he/she is hiding behind that moniker when VENICE is known as HOOD!
I am not related to William, but I knew William, I watched that kid grow up and I know his family (immediate), Aunt Sandra I'm sorry I have not met you but I know you have to be a beautiful woman! I was a single mom with 2 kids, my daughter was 8/9 when I got her involved at Oakwood Rec center and let me tell both of you and anyone else that wants to look their nose down, William was never anything but polite & respectful to me and around me, BUT FIRST I WAS POLITE & REPECTFUL TO HIM AS I AM TO ALL UNTIL THEY CROSS ME! I am not saying he was an Angel, not one of Gods children are, NO 'VENICE' YOUR MAMA LIED TO YOU LETTING YOU GROW UP THINKING YOU WERE, But I am saying before you go on a verbal crucification in the media or anywhere other then the privacy of your home or Gods home you better go to a mirror and take a look in your soul first! William did not judge and he didn't condemn. He didn't bother with you if you didn't bother with him and he looked out for the next. AND I SPEAK THIS FIRST HAND. . . That young man would watch me bring my daughter to Oakwood through the years, he watch my family grow, he knew me when I had a car, a great job, a husband but he also watch me go through a devastating divorce knowing I left with my close on my back and my kids in tow. He never judged me and would always gladly hold the door open for me & my stroller. Sometimes he'd see me as I'd get off the bus to get my daughter to cheer practice r pick her up at night and that yound man would walk with me. My daughter is now 17, she is a straight A student, a softball player and will be going to college, William was in her eyes HER FAMILY regardless of the fact that she was Hispanic she would proudly say THAT'S MY BROTHER! And for the record I know for a fact that my child is no where near an Angel but that's for me to say not anyone of your ignorant asses! It disgust me that either of you feel the right to justify William's KILLING AND YES THAT'S WHAT IT WAS A COLD BLOODED KILLING because IN YOUR F'D UP OPINION HE WAS NOTHING BUT HOOD!

Its funny how people tend to post negative things 2yr later. And not have the balls to post there real name.

For the record William C McKillian JR. was still human. And should not have been murdered by another Inhuman: However God knows and I know first on have. We all make mistakes, again it does not give anyone the right to take a life or speck negative of someone who is not here to defends his or her self.

However I will defend his name. William C McKillian Jr. is my Nephew who we miss dearly. So please keep your negative comment to yourself.
