Bernar Arlain, a 32-year-old black man, died Sunday, March 4, after he was stabbed in 7100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Arlain was sitting near a bus stop waiting area when he began to argue with another man about 1:14 a.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza.
The argument escalated to a physical fight, and the suspect stabbed Arlain in the upper body, Mendoza said.
Arlain was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:30 a.m., according to coroner’s records. The cause of death was listed as a stab wound to the right arm.
The suspect was last seen running east, away from the bus stop, Mendoza said. No suspect description was available.

Karen Tobar, a 23-year-old Latina, was fatally stabbed Friday, Feb. 23, in the 15000 block of Crestknoll Drive in Sylmar, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
A park ranger found Tobar’s body about 6:15 a.m. while opening the park for the day, according to coroner’s records.
Tobar was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:35 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Detectives are trying to determine why Tobar was in the park.

Jesus Manuel Nuñez, a 38-year-old Latino, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, after he was stabbed at Del Amo Boulevard and Violeta Avenue in Lakewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Nuñez and his girlfriend were walking home from a doughnut shop around 1:15 a.m. when a dark sedan stopped alongside them and a man, a woman and a female juvenile got out, demanding their property, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza.
In the ensuing struggle, one of the three stabbed Nuñez in the torso, Mendoza said. They then took a few items — Mendoza said he couldn’t specify what was taken — and got back in the car, driving south on Violeta Avenue.
Nuñez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:59 a.m., according to coroner’s records. His girlfriend was not injured.

Anthony M. Elston, a 24-year-old black man, died Sunday, Jan. 28, after being stabbed in the 9900 block of Ramona Street in Bellflower, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Elston was attacked around 8:10 the previous night during a fight outside an apartment complex where he had been visiting, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Moore.
The fight involved multiple people, including friends and relatives, many of whom live in the apartment complex, Moore said. Investigators are still trying to learn what prompted the confrontation and who was involved.

Joshua Ketchum, a 27-year-old white man, died on Saturday, Jan. 27, after he was stabbed in the 43000 block of Gadsden Avenue in Lancaster, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Ketchum was in his apartment when a black male tried to force his way into the apartment about 10 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Moore.
“What happened is very unclear,” Moore said, “We don’t know if it was an argument or physical altercation, but whatever happened it started inside and somehow ended up outside.”
Ketchum was stabbed in the mid-torso and taken to the hospital, Moore said. He was pronounced dead at 10:39 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
The Antelope Valley Times quoted an unnamed news videographer at the scene, who said Ketchum was stabbed with a broken bottle in the apartment complex.

Matthew Todd Musick, a 40-year-old white man, was fatally stabbed Thursday, Jan. 25, in the 100 block of West Willow Street in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Pomona police responded about noon to a call about a man in a grocery store parking lot, according to Sgt. Brian Hagerty. Officers found Musick on the ground with stab wounds to his chest.
He was pronounced dead at 12:05 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Witnesses told police that Musick was attacked by a white man who stabbed him about four times, Hagerty said. After the attack, the man fled on a bicycle.
Jason Darnell Brown, a 41-year-old black man, was stabbed to death Monday, Jan. 1, in the 800 block of East 87th Place in the Green Meadows area of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 7:30 p.m., Los Angeles Police responded to a home and found Brown suffering from stab wounds, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido.
Brown was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:42 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators think Brown got into an argument inside a home with a 48-year-old black woman he was dating, Garrido said.
The woman, identified by police as Roshawn Knight, stabbed Brown during the argument, then fled in a large SUV, Garrido said.
Authorities found Knight in Hunt County, Texas, on Jan. 3, according to online jail records. Knight is awaiting extradition to Los Angeles, where she faces murder charges, police said.

Todd Dunlap, a 45-year-old black man, was found Dec. 31, 2017, with fatal stab wounds in the 900 block of Elm Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Long Beach police responded about 6 a.m. to call about a man down, according to a news release. Police found Dunlap in an alley with an injury to his head, the release said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:23 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Later that day, officers arrested Ernest Weston, 87, and James Leonard Pettie, 58, at the apartment they had shared with Dunlap in the 400 block of 5th Street, less than a mile from the scene, according to officials. Police say Weston stabbed Dunlap and Leonard helped dump the body in the alley. Authorities did not disclose the location of the attack.
