Kaelyn Michael Tarin, a 19-year-old Latino, was found dead Sunday, Jan. 17 in the 4700 block of North Figueroa Street in Highland Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly after noon, Tarin was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a tent at Sycamore Grove Park, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department and coroner's records.
Tarin was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:12 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Police said the motive for the killing remains unknown.

Bryan Wilfredo Najarro, a 24-year-old Latino, was fatally stabbed Wednesday, Dec. 16, near Avenue 59 and North Figueroa Street in Highland Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 2:30 a.m., LAPD patrol officers responded to a call of a stabbing and found Najarro suffering from multiple stab wounds, said LAPD Det. Ryan Watterson.
Najarro was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:38 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
A preliminary description from witnesses indicated that the suspects could be two Latinas in their 30s, who were wearing dark clothing, Watterson said.
Pete Richard Cordero, a 35-year-old Latino, died Sunday, Nov. 22, after he was shot in the 5000 block of Raphael Street in Highland Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Los Angeles Police Department officers went to the area about 2 a.m. after receiving a report about shots fired, according to a department news release. They found Cordero behind the wheel of his car with multiple gunshot wounds.
Cordero was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:05 a.m., according to coroner's records.
Investigators believe the shooting is gang-related, said LAPD Northeast Homicide Division Det. Martee Miyakawa, but they don't have any suspect information.
"All we have is radio calls from people who heard shots fired," Miyakawa said.

Phillip Melendez, a 49-year-old Latino man, was fatally stabbed on Monday, Nov. 9, at the intersection of North Figueroa and Meridian streets in Highland Park, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives said Melendez was riding bus line 81 when three men boarded around 10:40 p.m. at the Avenue 57 and Figueroa stop.
The men walked to the rear of the bus and got into an argument with Melendez. One of the men pulled a knife and stabbed Melendez. The bus came to a stop at Figueroa and Meridian streets and the three men ran off, according to Lt. Eddie Hernandez.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived shortly after. Melendez was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:57 p.m.
