Gustavo Alejandro Chamorro, a 46-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, June 22, in the 4000 block of Trinity Street in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 6 p.m., Chamorro was in the backyard of a home dividing bundles of used clothes to sell with about three others when he got into an argument with another man, LAPD Det. Julio Benavides said.
The man went inside the home, grabbed a .22-caliber rifle and shot Chamorro, Benavides said.
The gunman was identified by police as Gilbert Anthony Rodriguez, a 26-year-old Latino.
Rodriguez and Chamorro were involved in an ongoing dispute over the used clothing sales, Benavides said.
Rodriguez fled the scene shirtless after the incident and was taken into custody about a block and a half away, Benavides said.

Kevin Magdaleno, a 22-year-old Latino, was found dead Sunday, Feb. 21 in the 500 block of East 31st Street in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
A person who lives in the area found Magdaleno in a gutter about 8 a.m., said LAPD Det. Richard Arciniega said. Police responded, conducted interviews and determined that dozens of people attended a party in the area the previous night, he said.
Outside the gathering, Magdaleno was shot. Police are still trying to determine the motive.
Magdaleno was pronounced dead at 8:10 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Moses Pastemes , a 20-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, Jan. 20 in the 600 block of East 24th Street in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 1:30 a.m., Pastemes was walking west on East 24th Street when he was approached by two Latinos who shot him, said LAPD Det. Rich Arciniega. The two men then ran west on East 24th Street, Arciniega said.
Pastemes was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:56 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
