Alrelio Parra Asanaza, 44

Alrelio Parra Asanaza, a 44-year-old Latino, died Monday, July 15, eight days after he was hit in the head in the 400 block of East 110th Street in Broadway-Manchester, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Asanaza, a street vendor, was pushing a fruit cart at 9:30 p.m. July 7 when he was attacked by three black men, LAPD Det. Supervisor Sal LaBarbera said. The men struck Asanaza in the head with a blunt object and robbed him, LaBarbera said.

Asanaza was taken to a hospital, where he died July 15 at 4:20 p.m.

This poor guy was just trying to provide for his family. Unfortunately, this types of crimes are daily occurrences in South Central LA ever since 1977. I have seen people robbed, mugged, killed over a couple dollars, as a matter of fact my uncle went to the store to buy a six pack of beer back in 1978, and he never came back. All he had with him were $3.25 for the beer. He was found stabbed to death on an empty lot by 56th and Central, they took his life, and the $3.25. This is just one story, I have about twenty others. I cannot believe that this type of hostility is still directed towards Hispanics after all these years. It's just sad to think that parents still pass down the racial hatred from generation to generation.
