Compton man charged in fatal shooting at Long Beach motel

A Compton man was charged May 26 in the shooting death of a woman in late April at a Long Beach motel, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Terry Moore, 29, was charged with murder in the death of Lanette Washington, 29. He also faces two counts of pandering. Long Beach police said at the time of his arrest, Moore had an outstanding warrant for violating his post-release conditions for domestic violence in 2015.

On April 24, Long Beach police found Washington in a motel room after she had been shot multiple times. She was transported to a hospital, where she died. A police spokesman said Washington and Moore knew each other and had argued prior to the killing.

Moore is scheduled to return to court June 8.
