Cornelio Garcia, 72

Cornelio Garcia, a 72-year-old Latino, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, five days after he sustained head trauma near Van Ness Avenue and Redondo Beach Boulevard in Gardena, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Garcia was found  Jan. 27 with blunt trauma to his head.

He was taken to Harbor UCLA Medical Center where he remained until his death Feb. 1 at 1:19 p.m.

Winter said coroner's officials did not know what caused Garcia's injury.

Pending additional tests, the coroner's office has deferred a final cause of death. Results will not be available for at least six to eight weeks.
