Darnell Larrante Jackson, 22

Darnell Jackson, a 22-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, Feb. 7, at 23rd and Cimarron streets in Jefferson Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.

Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said Jackson was approached by an unknown number of suspects and shot in the back of the head about 4:30 a.m.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5 a.m.

Syscom, you are so full of it. One cat who we DONT even know the complete background story (Mr. Whitley) and you wan to make generalizations about "a concerted push by Latino's to rid many of these neighborhoods of black people". Sukka please! 1000x more blacks kill one another than Mexicans killing blacks. Sure there are gang beefs and racial incidents but the MAJORITY of crimes committed against blacks is...wait for it...ANOTHER BLACK! Same thing with Latinos. Race on race killings is FAR greater than some racial fantasy youʻre spewing. So take that "Latinos trying to rid black people" bull and fly a kite. It goes both ways boy. You dont even know the suspects race. And considering this neighborhood is Harlem 30s hood and they have 2 big black gangs right next to them and beef with them, I highly doubt the suspect is Latino. Matter of fact, Im willing to bet another black person committed this crime. And since you like to question all other posts about the deceased, how come your not asking what this cat was doing out at 04:30? Buster...

syscom3 I don't think it is fair to say that because someone is asking for the elimination of ghettos that they are even thinking about giving someone free money. That would be pointless altogether. I think we should consider a statement from the book Political Econonmy of the Urban Ghetto by Fusfeld and Bates "Affluent America needs and benefits from urban racial ghettos. They provide a source of low-wage labor, and there is a steady drain of income and resources from the ghettos that benefits specific groups in affluent America." The Prison Industrial Complex is an example of one group or groups needing another group to remain dysfunctional and criminalized. Criminalization essentially removes one from the public sphere of competition and makes him a controlled object of the state and that is one of the goals and reasons for having ghettos.
