Ervin Davaunt Cavitt, 26

Ervin Devaunt Cavitt, a 26-year-old black man, was fatally shot Thursday, July 4, in the 1800 block of West 76th Street in Manchester Square, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Cavitt was at a party in the 7600 block of South Western Avenue and got into an argument with several people, said LAPD Det. Sal LaBarbera.

The argument carried out into the street and led to gunshots. Cavitt was found on the sidewalk, and witnesses fled the scene, LaBarbera said.

Cavitt was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:53 a.m., coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter said.
