Man charged with January killing of 20-year-old in Historic South-Central

A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a man in Historic South-Central in January, according to authorities.

Juan Perdomo, who is Latino, was arrested on suspicion of murder March 23, according to online jail records.

Perdomo has been charged with one count of murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. Perdomo is being held without bail.

Perdomo is accused of being the gunman in the Jan. 20 killing of Moses Pastemes in the 600 block of East 24th Street, said Los Angeles Police Det. Rich Arciniega.

Arciniega said Perdomo and others were tagging in the area about 1:30 a.m. Pastemes yelled at the group and was shot. Pastemes was known to associate with rival gang members in the area, although he wasn’t a gang member, authorities said.

Perdomo pleaded not guilty April 8 and is due back in court May 17, according to prosecutors.
