Kemmel Joshua Shackelford, 38

Kemmel Joshua Shackelford, a 38-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, April 22, in the 1200 block of West 87th Street in Westmont, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before midnight, Shackelford and John Earl Jackson, 26, were standing in front of a home when a black man drove up and got out of his car.

The man got into an argument with Jackson and Shackelford, then pulled out a gun and opened fire, said Det. Todd Anderson with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The gunman then got into a dark-colored sedan and drove away, east on West 87th Street, Anderson said.

Shackelford was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:59 p.m. Jackson also died at the scene.
