Kevin Michael Fauria, 26

Kevin Michael Fauria, also known as Kenvin Fauria, a 26-year-old black man, was fatally shot on Saturday, March 31, 2001, in the 4700 block of West Coliseum Street in the Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw area of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Fauria was shot in the head and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to coroner’s records. 

Two other people were injured in the gang-related shooting, but survived, according to Paul Eakins, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. 

Fauria lived in the Jefferson Park area of South Los Angeles and was known by several names, including Chawie Downey, Mike Abear and Archie Rucker, according to coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter. 

Two men were charged in the fatal shooting. Anthony Ammons, then 17, was convicted of murder in Fauria’s death, as well as two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a firearm and firing a firearm at an inhabited dwelling or vehicle. He was sentenced to 102 years to life in prison on Sept. 6, 2002. 

The other defendant, David Charles Greer, then 22, of Compton pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter with an allegation that the crime involved a gun and was done to benefit a gang. He was sentenced on July 30, 2002, to 17 years in state prison, Eakins said.
