Margarita Valdez Castro, 68

Margarita Valdez Castro, a 68-year-old Latina, was fatally shot on Sunday, May 22, in the 1100 block of Locust Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

About 12:50 p.m., Long Beach police were called to assist fire officials at a residence where someone had died, according to a police news release. Officers found a woman, later identified as Castro, with a stab wound to the chest, said police spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

She was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:56 p.m., according to coroner's records. 

Detectives arrested Luis Antonio Jimenezmolina, 32, on suspicion of murder, Arrona said. The motive for the stabbing was unknown, police said.
