Rayshawn Odalis Kemp, 27

Rayshawn Odalis Kemp, a 27-year-old black man, was fatally wounded on Tuesday, June 4, in the 300 block of East 169th Street in Carson, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Several people were  on the sidewalk about 9:55 p.m. when an SUV drove by and a person fired several rounds toward the group, striking Kemp and a female, according to a release from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was treated.

Kemp, who turned 27 that day, was taken to a hospital where he died at 10:22 p.m., coroner’s records show.  

Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related, the Sheriff’s Department said.
