Tahir Hafeez, 26

Tahir Hafeez, a 26-year-old black man, died Monday, May 2, two days after he was shot near 42nd Street and Western Avenue in Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Hafeez was shot in the head April 30 about 3:25 a.m.

Neighbors heard gunshots followed by the sound of a car speeding away. Authorities were called and Hafeez was found wounded, Winter said.

The victim was taken to California Hospital Medical Center, where he remained until his death May 2 at 2:18 p.m.
