Herbert Antonio Martinez, 56
Herbert Antonio Martinez, a 56-year-old Latino, died Monday, June 10, after he was beaten in the 5200 block of West Sunset Boulevard in East Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 8:25 p.m. on May 26, Martinez was standing outside a 99 Cents Only store when he got into an altercation with another person, said Los Angeles police Det. Sean Kinchla.
During the altercation, Martinez was punched in the head and fell to the ground. Martinez was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead June 10.
Darnell Kilgore, a 32-year-old black man, has been charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter and one count of battery with serious bodily injury, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Kilgore is due back in court Aug. 27. Kilgore was believed to be experiencing homelessness, police said.

Man sentenced in 2015 killing of girlfriend in Burbank
A 32-year-old Hesperia man who stabbed his girlfriend to death inside a Burbank home more than three years ago was sentenced this week to 26 years to life in prison, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Timothy Aguilar Andrade was convicted by a jury last month of first-degree murder with the special allegation that he used a knife, prosecutors said.
The trial lasted six days and a jury deliberated for about 3 and a half hours before deciding on a verdict, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office said.
On Aug. 23, 2015, Andrade was in a bedroom with his girlfriend, 35-year-old Brandi Carrasco, when he stabbed her in the neck.
The two were staying at the home, in the 1900 block of Richard Street, with other acquaintances.

Ryan Twyman, 24
Ryan Twyman, a 24-year-old black man, was shot and killed by Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies Thursday, June 6, near East 132nd and South San Pedro streets in Willowbrook, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Twyman was sitting in a white sedan with another person in the parking lot of an apartment complex about 7:30 p.m. when the sheriff's department said in a statement that deputies approached him.
“During the contact, a deputy-involved shooting occurred,” the department said in a statement.
It remains unclear what prompted the shooting.
Twyman was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:50 p.m., according to coroner's records.
He was one of three men killed by sheriff's deputies in a single day.
Twyman was a father of three children and also cared for his girlfriend's daughter. A fundraising page has been set up for his family.
