Cristian Frank Sanchez, a 20-year-old Latino, was shot and killed on Saturday, April 1, in the 2600 block of Calle Martos in Duarte, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Neighbors called Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies about 4:20 p.m. to report a possible burglary at a vacant house, said Lt. Joe Mendoza. The house had been vacant for some time, Mendoza said, but neighbors heard voices around the property so they called 911.
When deputies arrived, they found Sanchez inside the house with a gunshot wound to the chest, Mendoza said. Sanchez, a resident of La Puente, was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:37 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators believe Sanchez had been shot a short time before he was found but they don’t have any suspect information or a motive, Mendoza said. Neighbors didn’t hear any shots, Mendoza said. “They heard the voices, but no gunfire.” …
Kirinda Lavar Morehead, a 39-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Feb. 18, in the 2300 block of Bashor Street in Duarte, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Morehead and his wife had parked their two cars near their apartment about 8 p.m., Lt. Steve Jauch said.
As Morehead’s wife walked toward the house, Morehead was transferring items from one car to another, with his two young children strapped into their car seats in his car, Jauch said.
A white vehicle pulled up alongside Morehead and someone inside began shooting, striking Morehead several times, Jauch said.
Morehead was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:18 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Morehead’s children and his wife were not injured, Jauch said.
Investigators don’t have a description of the people in the car or a motive for the shooting. Morehead worked in construction and was not involved in gangs, Jauch …
Gabriel De Le Torre, a 32-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, Aug. 19, in the 2100 block of Broach Avenue in Duarte, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
De Le Torre was in his backyard with a few relatives and friends when his neighbor joined the group, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Eddie Hernandez.
The neighbor and his family live in a smaller house on the same lot, and they shared the backyard, Hernandez said.
Witnesses told investigators they aren't sure what sparked the neighbor's anger, but at some point "he felt disrespected," Hernandez said, and got a handgun from his house and began shooting.
De Le Torre was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:24 p.m. with gunshot wounds to the chest, according to coroner’s records. No one else was injured.
After the shooting, the neighbor drove away in his white Toyota pickup truck, Hernandez said.

Efrain Murillo, a 28-year-old Latino, died Monday, Feb. 8, after he was shot in the 800 block of Lewiston Street in Duarte, according to coroner’s records.
The incident began about 5:40 p.m. as Murillo was sitting with a friend in the driver’s seat of his car, listening to music in the driveway of a home, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Det. Bill Cotter said.
As his friend was getting out of the car to grab something from his backyard, someone came up from behind and began firing multiple rounds into the car, Cotter said.
Murillo was struck in the torso multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:14 p.m., according to coroner’s records. His friend was not injured, Cotter said.
Murillo was not a gang member, Cotter said, but his friend is involved in a gang, and investigators believe the shooting was gang-related.

Hector Acosta, a 24-year-old Latino man, was shot multiple time to the head, chest and back at 2525 Millbrae St. in Duarte. His time of death was 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12. The Sheriff's Department is investigating.
