Ferreol Cardenas, a 32-year-old Latino male, died Friday, April 25, after sustaining blunt force trauma by law enforcement near 2371 Rosecrans Ave. in El Segundo, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Lester Beasley, a 51-year-old black man, died Sunday, Feb. 12, in the 100 block of El Segundo Boulevard in El Segundo, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Deputies responded Sunday night to a 911 call from employees at a gas station, authorities said.
When authorities arrived, they found Beasley with injuries sustained during a fight with a 44-year-old man.
Paramedics responded and pronounced Beasley dead at the scene, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.
Detectives later determined that Beasley had kidnapped the other man in Willowbrook and drove him to the store "for the purpose of having him withdraw money from the ATM," the department said in a statement. "The suspect implied he had a gun."
The victim began fighting to draw public attention and escape, authorities said.

Jonathan Taylor, 24, a black man, was killed during a gun battle with police officers from the El Segundo Police Department about 10:15 p.m. Friday, April 11. The officer-involved shooting occurred at the Pacific Beach Cities 16 Cinemas at 831 S. Nash St. in El Segundo.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, two El Segundo police officers at the theater were called in after Taylor argued with employees. The officers detained Taylor and began to search him. During the search, Taylor allegedly pulled out a handgun and began shooting.
Both officers were struck by gunfire but were able to shoot back, authorities said. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Both officers were taken by ambulance to UCLA Harbor-Medical Center. Authorities would not release any further information about the shooting or the officers.
Andrew MacEarchern, 52, a white man, was shot by a Manhattan Beach police sergeant on the northwest corner of Sepulveda Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue in El Segundo, and died at 7:51 p.m. Thursday, May 10.
According to sheriff's Lt. Larry Lincoln, the sergeant was responding to a call about a man with a knife. When the sergeant met the man on the sidewalk, he had a 6-inch, fixed-blade knife out of its sheath, which he wore on his belt. He advanced toward the sergeant, did not obey commands to drop the knife, and the sergeant shot him. MacEarchern was transported to a hospital and died.
