Alcides Quiroz-Portillo, 27

Alcides Quiros-Portillo, a 27-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, July 20, near Whitsett Avenue and Burbank Boulevard in Valley Glen, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.

Shortly before 7 p.m., Quiros-Portillo was in an alley behind a 7-Eleven with another person when a light blue sedan drove up, said Los Angeles Police Officer Gabe Bucknell. 

The driver inquired about the victim's gang affiliation, shot him, then fled, Bucknell said.

Quiros-Portillo was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:21 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Police identified the suspect as Omar Quintanilla, a 35-year-old Latino, Bucknell said.

Quintanilla has been charged with one count of murder with gang and gun allegations and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
