Salome Rodriguez Jr., 23
Salome Rodriguez Jr., a 23-year-old Latino from Ontario, was shot and killed Friday, March 13, near Third Street and Main Street in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
About 3:30 a.m., the Pomona Police Department responded to a call about gunshots, according to a news release. Once officers arrived at the parking lot near an area packed with bars and nightclubs, officers found Rodriguez with gunshot wounds. Rodriguez was taken to L.A. County-USC Medical Center, where he later died.
Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Henry Solis, police said. Solis, 27, was a probationary officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's Devonshire Division in the San Fernando Valley. The department fired him March 17.
Police said Solis and Rodriguez were at Viva Tequila Lounge and Nightclub in downtown Pomona. The pair got into a confrontation after leaving, said Lt. Ronald McDonald. It's unknown whether the two knew each other before or what precipitated the fight.
Solis was off-duty when the incident occurred and didn't report to work Saturday, according to the release. The LAPD is assisting Pomona police in the search.
Police said Solis "knows he is wanted" and should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Pomona Police Department's detective bureau at (909) 620-2085. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
Update, May 20, 2015: The FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading directly to the arrest of Henry Solis, who has been charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Solis' father, Victor Solis, was indicted by a federal grand jury April 15 for making a false statement to FBI investigators about traveling into Mexico alone on March 14, when photos at the Paso Del Norte Port of Entry between El Paso, Texas, and Juarez, Mexico, show he was accompanied by his son.
Update, May 27, 2015: Henry Solis was arrested in Juarez in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico, on May 26 and extradited to El Paso, Texas, where he is being held in federal custody.
