A story for every victim

Christina Talley, 46

Christina Talley, a 46-year-old black woman, died Monday, Aug. 22, a day after she was stabbed in the 3100 block of Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Talley, an Albertson's clerk, was stabbed more than 20 times while working at a Santa Monica store, Santa Monica police said.

Witnesses told investigators that a man approached the victim Aug. 21 about 3: 30 p.m. and began conversing with her.

"He approached her, whispered something and then jumped on her," said Sgt. Richard Lewis. Talley was taken to a hospital in critical condition after being stabbed in the head, neck and upper body. She died the next day about 2:30 a.m.

Later that day, Talley's estranged husband, Kelvin Green, was arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing his wife, police said.

Green, a 52-year-old black man from Los Angeles, was taken into custody and is being held in lieu of $1-million bail at the Inmate Reception Center in downtown. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 26 at the LAX Municipal Court.
