Raylond Lamar Hughley, a 24-year-old black man, died Sunday, July 14, after being shot in the 4600 block of West Don Miguel Drive in Baldwin Hills-Crenshaw, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Hughley left a party after getting into a dispute shortly before midnight July 13, said Det. Dave Garrido with the LAPD’s Southwest Division. Hughley got into his car, and a person walked up and asked where he was from, Garrido said.

Hughley said he wasn’t from a gang and was shot; the gunman then fled in a light-colored car, Garrido said.

Hughley died at the scene at 12:26 a.m., moments before an ambulance was set to take him to the hospital, according to coroner’s records.
