Tajuana Margaret White, 30

Tajuana Margaret White, a 30-year-old black woman, was fatally stabbed Thursday, June 22, in the 13000 block of South Doty Avenue, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

At about 12:30 a.m., Hawthorne police responded to a call about a stabbing in the area, according to Lt. James Royer. Upon arriving, officers found White with a stab wound to the upper chest from a 4-inch folding knife, according to an autopsy report.

She was transported to the hospital and was pronounced dead at 1:56 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

At the scene, police arrested Essie Lee Woods, 61, who was later charged with murder,  Royer said. He is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 21 for a preliminary hearing.
