Joseph Waary, an 18-year-old Middle Eastern man, was shot and killed Friday, Jan. 24, in the 9800 block of De Soto Avenue in Chatsworth, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.
About 11:26 a.m., Waary was inside a business with others when he was shot, said Los Angeles Police Det. Steve Castro. The people Waary was with “freaked out” and took him to a hospital, Castro said.
Coroner’s records show the business where Waary was shot was a marijuana dispensary.
Waary was pronounced dead at 11:30 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
The suspect was identified as Jeffrey Ivan Bustamante Jr., a 19-year-old Latino, police said.
Bustamante has been charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of possession of a firearm with a prior misdemeanor conviction, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Sun Chang, a 78-year-old Asian man, was beaten to death Sunday, March 18, in the 21300 block of Candice Place in Chatsworth, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Jun Hyuk Chang, 45, Sun Chang's son, allegedly struck his father in the head with the hammer, according to Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Jun Hyuk Chang was taken into custody without incident Sunday at his father's home, police said.
Family members who heard the elder Chang yell ran into the room and told the son to call 911, Eisenman said. Sun Chang died of his injuries at the scene, according to police.
Jun Hyuk Chang is being held without bail. No other details were immediately available.

Jane Doe #45, a female, was found dead Saturday, Aug. 13, in the 20400 block of Lassen Street in Chatsworth, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Homicide detectives were conducting an investigation in the evening on Aug. 12 when they found the bodies of Jane Doe #45 and John Doe #113. As of Wednesday, coroner's officials were still trying to determine their identities.
Both bodies were discovered in a state of decomposition. Preliminary coroner’s records show the victims may have each suffered several gunshot wounds.
Police suspect Brent D. Zubek, a 43-year-old white man, of killing John and Jane Doe.
Zubek's family spoke out to local media, begging him to turn himself in.
"We really wish you would turn yourself in," his mother, Carole Zubek, told KTLA. "I fear that if the police find you before you turn yourself in, things are going to be really bad."

Kirsten Hyde, a 62-year-old white woman, died from asphyxiation Tuesday, June 14, in the 6500 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Chatsworth, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Officers found Hyde dead inside her apartment, the LAPD said. She appeared to have been strangled, police said.
Hyde's boyfriend, David Pearson, walked into a police station and allegedly told officers that he had killed his girlfriend.
Pearson, a 58-year-old white man, is being held in lieu of $1-million bail at the Men's Central Jail downtown. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 26 at the North Valley Superior Court in San Fernando.
