Marcus Andrew Davis, 23

Marcus Davis, a 23-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, Oct. 31, in the 9700 block of Parmelee Avenue in Florence-Firestone, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Davis was visiting a home about 10:15 p.m. when two men knocked on the door and shot him through a screen, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

Authorities were called, and Davis was taken to a hospital where he died 35 minutes later. According to coroner's records, he was shot several times.

Sheriff's homicide Det. Rich Ramirez, who is handling the investigation, said a witness described the assailants as black males.

Investigators are still trying to determine if the shooting was gang-related.

Anyone with information about the circumstances leading up to Marcus Davis' death or the identities of the shooters is asked to contact Det. Ramirez at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.

Yea I never posted on here kuzzin n im not gone lie the reason was because I never knu wut to say...we miss U dwn here man...I dnt kno how parents handle this stuff i can only imagine kuz im only a kuzzin and my heart hurts ...auntie kat is strong ,we are a strong family and although we nade it thru the terrible aftermath ee havent nor will we ever get over u being gone..we have lost a close family friend (hitman), damn near family and u swear it hurt us ,hurt us bad kuz we love and care about him but also because it brought back memories of that call... I don't know what to do no mirror how to keep the happy face anymore or how to help anymore,I try to keep it g'd kuzzin but when I'm alone I cry jus I dnt want no one to see me..i figure if I remain strong and together the rest if the family will follow suit.. I'm sorry I wasn't there to get the door ir at least call and yell at y'all abt y'all being there...please tell t.e I'm sorry for not kummin back on time and when u see hit tell him I'm sorry foe jot being there to tell him those nuggas wasn't gone fade...im sorry maybe things would've been different..im sorry u guys..most days I b wanting to give up bur its not in me,I've been taught by sum if the strongest women on the earth,them tuckers!!! Marcus.. G smooth... WOW, I still cannot believe this.. I think about you often, What we had was special.. and I will take it to my grave. The last time we talked we ended the conversation like always and that was in laughter! I always wanted the best for you and I guess there is nothing better then heaven! You were a remarkable young man with a big heart and big feet lol! When Mo told me about your passing, I could not believe it.. I did not want to believe it.. I extend my prayers out to your family. I really miss you! Your big afro and your dancing haha.. and watching you workout (crickets).. As I seal this letter of love I send it off with peace in knowing that I will one day see you again. Amen Amen!!!! Lisa you have said exactly what im feeling, and yes thank you for your comments FOol. Every one does not become obsessed where they can't function or become out of touch with reality. We are a family that has the ability to do more than one thing at a time. It's really a great thing that you mentioned talking to kids about the evils of this world. I have done this with one of the youth centers in my neighborhood. And i truly feel it will help someone else escape the street life as you did. To my family you all know that we still have work to do with our own family members, so keep reaching out to the lost ones, talk to them, but also listen very carefully to what they are saying and we may learn how to help them. Lets gain more patience, and remember they still need our guidance even when they don't think so. And as always continue to pray to GOD for our strength to make it day by day. my condolescence to the family of the slain...May you be able to find peace before your own demise...I read each and every comment on this HR report and I have to say that although some of the comments seemed insensitive they really were not...I believe that those that posted comments speaking of Marcus murder was simpy saying that association brings on assimilation...back when I was out in the streets having fun I hung around some innocent and some not so innocent people...As I grew older and attempted to get my life together I was faced with a dillema...do I continue to hang with those that are associated with the streets or do I put space between us...Well the answer came from an incident that I had...While I was hanging with some of these same people I was in the line of a major shootout..and although I was not hit I easily could have been...I made my mind up right then that I did not need to associate with these people again...was it hard...Of course but so many of those same people are deceased or in jail as we speak...I understand that Marcus was not a member of any gang and I will just say that there were no members in that house...however that neighborhood is a slaughterfest and the vultures prey on the innocent and weak...They seen a victim and they took their chances at getting him....They probably found out that it was an innocent person but do they care?...NO!!! that the life of a heartless gangster...KILL KILL KILL...however this goes out to the family of Marcus...As a licensed therapist now I recommend that you discontinue coming on this HR because you are only damaging yourself...Your mind will begin to take over your body and this will become an obsession...your son brother uncle or whatever he was to you all is at peace now....you will see him again down the road but for now remember the good in him and never let his spirit die...But you have to move on with life...you have others that need you while you are still breathing...Go down to the local churches and talk to the children about Marcus story and let them know that evil lurks...educate your community...May Marcus REST IN PEACE and I am sure that you will see him on the other side....

Wow its krazie how so many day have passed since uve been gone and it feels like just yesterday I was with u and ur daughter laughin on ur front porch..... I sit and look at ma life now and see that I never thought it would've been like this..... I mean so many plans unable to have been done... and every tym I see ur beautiful lil girl who is a spittin image of u in everyway... I mean every WAY... Amen Amen!!!! lacey, marcus was indeed a true warrior, and yes he was handsome. I truly feel what you said, i don't want to get out of bed either. It's so so hard!!!!. And i know everyone feels it. But as the sun rises and sets, we must do the same. Because we have to celebrate the day our beloved marcus was born, and celebrate his life as it was. He was a fun, fast moving, loving and caring young man, and we all know he was no joke!!! He would fight, bite and kick the hell out of you, when he was wronged, or his family was in danger. So to my family and friends of marcus what ever you do on July 30th 2011 be sure to make a toast to Marcus Andrew Davis- Ross or what ever you address him as. Every one knows he loved koolaide blueberry blue, coffee, tea, milk and Tanger. So go on and get bent!!!!! the way mark would have done it. don't spend the whole day grieving, leave that up to me! As always I'm thinking of you... Your birthday is just a week away, please grant us all strength to even get out of bed when that day arrives. I took your baby girl with me to the grocery store the other day & boy is she a character! It took everything I had in me not to break down, knowing that you've walked every aile. I began to think about all our "good times", particularly the time in Hollywood and it brought me to a smile. Marcus, I want you to know that I love you so so much! And losing you has taught me some very valuable lessons & given me a whole new outlook on life. It will indeed take some time to get to where I want to be, but I am a work in progress! It's difficult, very difficult to continue doing the everyday things of life. But I'm doing it, some days are really hard so i just take it easy and do nothing. Mother's Day! I missed my child, my son, my baby boy!. I looked forward for so long to have my breakfast in bed, from the cook in the family, and because some cowards felt they had to prove that they were gangsters, and shooters killed him. This only shows how stupid they are to have taken another mans life unjustified, and ruined there own. Trust and believe you will never get away with what you've done. The detectives will find you and the court will convict you and you will spend the REST OF YOUR LIVES IN PRISON!! And our family will REJOICE!!!!!!!!! We are hurting very badly, but we will heal, and recover from the lost of our beloved MARCUS who will never be forgotten, but YOU!!! will. To my family and friends the struggle continues, so remember to pray. We will all be alright i love each one of you, BE GOOD TO YOUR SELF AND OTHERS, PEACE!!

Once again i awake to what is now my new normal life. A life without my son Marcus, one filled with so much pain, pain overflowing in my heart. It makes me physically sick at times. and i still don't want to do or say anything. I just want to see him, hug him, kiss him, and tell him that i love him. And look forward to his loving response. Just this morning i could hear him call out to me, he said hey ma. It was his voice, and his tone that i have heard for twenty three years. Oh my GOD how i miss him, and can't understand why he's gone. But there is a driving force to keep me going, it's Samara. I promised Marcus when he was away that the family and i would take care of his little girl until he returned. Now that he is an angel i know we will have him watching over us all. I love you Baby Boy!

It's been 5 months & 6 days since my son Marcus was murdered. I have so much pain that some times i don't want to get out of bed. But i must keep going everyday, even if it's slow. And these days that's exactly how it is. I continue to have the love and support of my family and friends. And may i say to you all, thank you once again! Not being the same person that you know me to be is strange i know, but my life has been changed forever. So now i have to learn to live without my baby boy! He will never be forgotten, he will always be loved and missed. I believe he's in heaven with all his love ones that has gone on before him, because his purpose here on earth is done. Accepting his passing, sometimes has me in a blur, it makes me immobile, it just seems unreal, and oh how i wish it wasn't true. God is good all the time, but when a death such as Marcus's happens it makes you ask the question, WHY!!!!. Yes i asked the lord why, and the answer was lean not unto thy own understanding. I have faith! that GOD will help me to have less pain and sadness, without him. So to everyone who is affected by the loss of Marcus i encourage you to seek the help you need to deal with the pain you feel. Go to what ever source you have. I have certainly found a counseling group, that has helped me. YOU NEVER KNOW FROM DAY TO DAY WHATS NEXT, IF WE COULD SEE IN LIFES DARKNESS IM SURE WE WOULD CHANGE THE OUTCOME IF NEEDED, BUT ITS NOT THAT SIMPLE, SO WE KEEP FOWARD IN THE DARK, HOPING AND PRAYING NOT TO FALL, AND YES IT IS A COLD FEELING MANY OF US FEEL, BUT WE GOT TO KEEP MOVING...IN THE DARK! there are lots of doctors and groups to vent this so called recovery crap to but its not enough of them on the planet to recover whats lost! my sister cat is so hurt sad and strong she is doing her best to hold herself together and yes marcus your little girl is just as you were at this age very very bizzy and always has the answer for everything! she is so pretty and smart like her dad, i know thru are lifes you will be watching over us along with god just as angels do!! love always auntie LISA.

when the dawn of day appear i find myself awake and already thinking of you. I sit up in my bed waiting for you to say, how did you sleep? would you like a cup of coffee? And waiting for my little big hug as you've always given from the time you were born. A smile comes on my face and sadness in my heart because it's all just a memory. But guess what? it's just one of the many memories that you created. And just think if every day some one thinks about you, it keeps your love, truthfulness,loyalty, and commitment to life alive. I'm getting through the recovery of losing you to such a horrific, and violent death, day by day and even sometime minute by minute because, it is so very painful. Rest assured that your family is going to be alright, as we always have. Because we are strong, we stick together just like your grandma taught us to do. And you of all people have experienced it the most. Marcus my days are so full of love and joy, due to the little girl you left, she is so much like you were at the age of four, and boy is she a piece of work. So as i sit in ma bed on this day 2-14-11 .. i think of how today was or would have been spent. . With MARCUS ANDREW DAVIS and all his charming was. . How gettin a phone call or a nice thoughtful loving card or even with him wakin up next to me wouldve felt so great and lovin. . But then i have to remember that today i will not have the pleasure of any of the above. .. I wont be getting tha card tellin me how much he loves me. Happi Valentines day babe or the phone call with his soft sweet voice draggin out ma name as if it has a million and one x's in it sayin he how much he couldn't wait for me to get ma self up and come see him.... or wakin up to his gorgeous heartwarmin smile with a kiss filled with all the love in tha world. ... but one thing i do kno is HE's always with me in spirit and i still feel his love around me everyday. . And knowin that the reason he's not here with me was over some unnecessary violence. ..and knowin that the ones who did this unthinkable thing is out there with there so called loved ones is realli kinda depressing. .. i hope that some day real soon our wonderful stronge family will receive the justice we deserve. . There are so many people who has felt the pain, of the death of my son Marcus. The love and support that our family has recieved , has helped us each day. But there was a day that truly proved how much love, marcus had in his life and how many lives he had touched. The day was November 13, 2010 the celebration of Marcus's return to heaven. Marcus and i often argued about how many people he knew,and how well known he was, and that we weren't his only family. He told me all the time moms you have no idea!!! And on that day i got the idea and it was clear to me that he wasn't just my angel he was everyones. There was about 400+ people at his funeral. He was just 23 and people new him so personnally, it was a blessing to see for my self the love that was shown and that was obviously given by him. I am a mother who is proud to have had a son like him . Marcus you were loved and will always be! Your little girl is alright, because she knows your her angel in heaven like you were on earth. We are all taking the fact that your not here physically, one day at a time. And with strength from God, we will continue to do so. I love you Baby Boy !!! Mommy

As we go in to this new year we as a family are missin a very special peace of us... As i go into this new year its hard to believe ur not here... u were and alway with have and be my heart even tho ur not here... My thoughts have changed and my mind has grown because of what u did for me when u were here... MY LOVE IS GONE MY MINDS A MESS AND KNOWIN U UD TELL ME THAT WE'D GET THRO IT.. I NEW MARCUS WELL!! and this is something he would say to all his FAMILY and friends because he was truly AMAZIN!! Ive blasted off into heavens space, GODS face i now grace, im in a beautiful place, were i can just ZOOM!! my destination is heavens moon, Ive blasted off in time were there is PEACE, and LOVE for all mankind, and COLORS LEAVE NO WOUNDS! and i can just ZOOM!! and be "G"SMOOV... well it seems like theres 3 idiots on here that knows how to operate a computer but thats not whats important right now.marcus is my little cousin before anything else. and a person with intentions on living his life right is now gone. gone but never forgotten. people lets not get things confused, he was murdered. memories of you will always and forever be in my veiw a new thick babyboy and i watched as you grew!..around age two your mom catherine and i new she would need lots of rest just to keep up with you! alway happy and running around and if there was something to bother and play with by you it would be found.. i can here your mom and dad as if it were today saying marcus, you dont need any more junkfood today, and you were the one that ate de'andre candice chips yesterday! so many birthdays and holidays family and friends all around and sometimes when it was over you needed to be found. you never went far.. of this im sure, because if you ever did joe and cat had the cure!!..so many stories of love to share you felt them all and new we cared...the boy side of you left and in the blink of my eyes the next thing i new you were learning to drive. as life moved on you learned the ways to love and share and as you got older you always felt the love are family shared!..you grew to be this amazing man and we all laugthed at the smoov way in your stand! there is...no doubt what you truly wanted to be and thats the best father, husband, son and brother any one man could ever be!.. we know it to be true that god has made a strong and worthy angel out of you. and so all the things in life you wanted to be and see are nothing but a sigh, for now your the hansome angel that sleeps high and can fly. yes we will miss you here on earth and at times we will cry but whenever im thinking of you i look in the sky. love auntie lisa.

its been weeks since i layed the love of my life to rest.Its so hard knowing that im not gon see him again hear his sexy voice look n2 those beautiful brown eyes anymore.the that we had i will always keep them in my heart the memories we had good and bad i will cherish them deeply.the pain im Feeling is unbearable.I thank marcus everyday for giving me our beautiful daughter which is a splitting image of marcus. He couldnt have gave me nothing more beautiful than that.Our daughter dosent really understand and its definately bothering her a whole lot and i cry for her because shes not gon beable to know him and its a possibility that his death is gonna mess her up when she gets older.i hope they catch the persons that did this awful thing will rot under the jail u bastards just dont how much pain u have cost his family and the family he created ur day will come and when it do i hope its 52 times worse.As for his mom catherine u keep ur head held high much love

There are no words to describe the way I'm feeling at this present time, it's been weeks since this all has taken place and I still feel so much pain! I've rode around on radio flyers on the playyard, sat on porches & ate ice cream, & even gotten whoopings together with this boy as kids and now he's gone and all I have is memories? My family has always been very close, reguardless of how different one another is, we have always been close. And it's hurts me even more to see all of them grieving about our loss cause I love them all so much & I don't wish to see them in any pain. I always thought that they were doing too much in the movies when someone says that their "heart is hurting", but I understand it now to the fullest & I'd give anything to turn back the hands of time. Thanks to the man above my family has found the strength to continue on with our everyday life & walk around with a smile on their faces everyday, & I want you all to know that I am so proud of you! I love you all so much, & I have faith that the person who has caused our family this great deal of pain will be brought to justice. & speaking on behalf of the family, I'd like to thank all for your condolences, thoughts & of prayers, it was well needed.... I LOVE YOU LITTLE COUSIN! YOU WILL LIVE ON IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER!!!

Many many thanks to everyone that has posted comments regarding Marcus. To my family and friends, i love you all!!!! I could not have imagined getting through this ordeal if it wasn't for you. I pray every day for our family and friends to start the recovery of such a loss. To Det. Ramirez and the entire Los angeles sherriffs department, thank you for your tireless effort to bring justice for the murder of my son Marcus. The words to describe how my family and i feel are, to numerous to name. But here are a few, broken ,lost, hurt, disbelief, anger,sadness and yes even hate. The fact that his little girl and his nephew will not have the pleasure of knowing him is heart breaking. When i told this beautiful little girl that she would never see her daddy again it nearly killed me. She still doesn't understand, but she is hurting and expressed her pain by saying she wish she had died to, so she could sleep with her daddy in his bed in heaven. Now how heartbreaking is that. I want to say to the ones who did this, YOU KILLED MY SON!!!!!!!!! and you need to turn your selves in. To the mothers, fathers,grandparents,sisters,brothers,cousins, and any one that know who these people are PLEASE PLEASE!!!! turn them in. These people knocked on a door and with out knowing or caring who he was shot and killed my son. You had no cause to take his life, This was WRONG! GOD forbid if it where your loved one, or possibly your child, you would want and deserve the same justice that we seek for OUR BELOVED MARCUS. Do the right thing!

I have LOVED MARCUS ANDREW DAVIS FOR SEVEN LONG YEARS HE WAS THE ONE PERSON I COULD TALK TOO ABOUT ANYTHING MY ONE TRUE LOVE MY FUTURE HUSBAND.... SMH IT STILL FEELS LIKE A DREAM I i still wait for that phone call tellin me to come over and see him and his baby I wait for his letters that are never gonna come i wait to hear him say "i don't know how i feel in love with the devil lol but i did I Love u Rooxxxyyyy" but ill never get to hear it again .im happy for the seven years i had with him in my life .. I LOVE HIM AND HIS DAUGHTER WITH EVERY OUNCE OF ME AND ALWAYS HAVE... and to think that someone who didn't kno him could say the most ignorant things is so amazing it baffles me smh at dumb ignorance. .... my heart is gone. .. I SIT AND CRY I LAUGH AND I THINK OF ALL THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY AND I STILL LOVE HIM AND HIS BABY GIRL WITH ALL OF ME AND I FEEL LIKE SHE WAS VIOLENTLY ROBBED OF HER FATHER SMMFH.. HE'S HAD MY HEART IN HIS HANDS SINCE THE DAY WE MET AND HE TOOK A HUGE CHUNK OF IT WITH HIM THAT NIGHT.... HOPE AND PRAY THAT THE VIOLENT IGNORANT SELFISH MONSTERS WHO DID THIS POINTLESS UNNECESSARY THING GETS WHAT THEY DESERVE. .... First off, Big Dog your the idiot and the person(s) that shot my cousin. For your information who knows why? Who shots a 5 year old? What did the 5 year old do? Nothing!! Who goes on to a website and makes stupid comments that only a grieving family will see. A punk,un-educated person like yourself. Change your name to "Big Stupid"!!!

For your information i am educated and received my degree in Business Administration. I currently have a 6 figure income. If he would have done something with his life he might be alive today. You can say all you want that he was a great person but i would be willing to bet that he was involved with some type of illegal activity.

For your information i have a degree in Business Administration and I live very well in a beautiful community. I dont live in the ghetto like you. Do something with your life and stop advocating gang violence. As much as you claim he was a great person i can almost bet that he was doing things that a law abiding citizen would not do. The real idiot here is you and him for not taking the right steps in life. One less hoodlum on the street.

Marcus will be missed... I can truely say... he had PERSONALITY... LOW KEY and kind of SMOOTH...
My last memory of Marcus was when a group of us hung out one night in Hollywood and my shoe broke and he suggested that I slide and lean like a pimp so it wouldn't look obvious..... LOL... We had fun that, taking pictures on Partybuses and just enjoying the nightlife, drama free...
Its a hurting thing to see someone so full of life and someone you can crack a smile with and enjoy their company be taken away so suddenly and so traggicly... But Marcus is RESTING now; meanwhile, his child, his mother, his siblings, family and friends are the ones you've killed and cut deeply spiritually and emotionally... Marcus' life will live on through all of us that knew him no matter the longevity. He was one of a kind and had a lasting impression and a personality that would make anyone remember him...
My deepest Sympathy goes to my extended Tucker/Davis Family and prayers for strength through these tough times are ongoing.... I Love YOU ALL NEARLY AND DEARLY...
