Daniel Nunez, a 32-year-old Latino, was shot and killed on Monday, March 6, in the 11800 block of Second Avenue in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
A resident told investigators that he heard two men arguing about 7:30 p.m. and then heard gunfire, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Troy Ewing.
When the resident looked, he saw a Latino in his 20s running from the location.
Nunez was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:41 p.m.
Ewing said Nunez was a transient from Lynwood who didn't have his own home. "He was kind of couch surfing, and this was the place he was hanging out at the time," he said. Investigators believe Nunez was just standing outside the place where he was staying when he was shot.

Santiago Morales, a 52-year-old Latino, was pronounced dead Tuesday, Feb. 28, after he was shot in the 11300 block of Long Beach Boulevard in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Morales was found seated behind the wheel of his car, which was parked in the alley behind the commercial street, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Jauch.
A passerby saw him unresponsive in the car around 8:30 a.m. and called 911, Jauch said.
Morales was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:42 a.m. He had been shot in the chest, according to coroner’s records. It appeared someone shot him from outside the car, Jauch said. The driver's side window was shattered, and the bullet went through Morales' arm and into his torso, he said.

Jovany Solis Guerra, a 21-year-old Latino, died Thursday, Jan. 5, after he was shot in the 5100 block of Abbott Road in South Gate, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
South Gate police were called about 12:40 p.m. Tuesday about a gunshot victim, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Marcelo Quintero.
They found Solis Guerra sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked car with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and neck. Solis Guerra’s friend, a 23-year-old Latino, was sitting beside him in the front seat, uninjured, Quintero said.

Leopoldo Delatorre, a 58-year-old Latino, was fatally stabbed Thursday, Nov. 10, in the 10700 block of McNerney Avenue in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Delatorre, who lived in Whittier, was doing construction work on a home with his 24-year-old son around 10 a.m. when the two got into an argument, L.A. County Sheriff's Lt. John Corina said.
The dispute escalated, and the son stabbed Delatorre, Corina said. Delatorre was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:14 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Nur Delatorre, who is Latino, was arrested on suspicion of murder that day, according to online jail records.
People who know the Delatorres said they were known to argue, Corina said. He added that it is unclear exactly what led to the stabbing and that Nur Delatorre has no criminal record or gang affiliation.

Lexington Elliot Brandon, an 8-month-old black baby, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, in the 3200 block of Flower Street in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigators.
Lexington's maternal grandmother called 911 about 4:53 p.m. after she walked into the kitchen where her daughter was giving the baby a bath, Lt. Mike Rosson said.
“The mother was holding the baby in her arms, and the baby appeared to be in great distress,” Rosson said. “He was looking dead.”
Paramedics took the unresponsive baby to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m., according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Malcolm Roland Trotter, a 25-year-old black man, died Sunday, Aug. 21, after he was shot in the 3300 block of Norton Avenue in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
About 8:10 p.m. on Aug. 20, Trotter, who lived in another part of Lynwood, got into a fist fight with a couple of people on Norton Avenue, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Rosson.
Investigators believe Trotter “was conducting business” on the street where he lived when he was younger, provoking locals who thought he had moved into their territory, Rosson said.
Security camera footage showed two Latinos getting into a parked car to leave and Trotter smashing one of the car windows with the handle of a knife he was carrying, Rosson said.

Vincent Mike Zaragoza, a 59-year-old Latino, was stabbed to death Thursday, June 30, in the 11800 block of Atlantic Avenue in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
According to witnesses, Zaragoza, who is homeless, got into an argument with two Latino men at Yvonne Burke-John D. Ham Park around 4 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Eddie Hernandez said.
The argument turned into a physical fight, the witnesses told investigators, and the two men began stabbing Zaragoza. One of the men walked away from the fight, Hernandez said, but the other continued to struggle with Zaragoza.
During the fight, Zaragoza forced the knife into one man's stomach, witnesses told investigators. Zaragoza then collapsed on the ground, and the man who had been stabbed left the park, witnesses said.

L.A. County sheriff's deputies were called to the residential area about 1:27 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, regarding a gunshot victim, said Lt. Steve Jauch.
When they arrived, they found Johnson lying on the grass with multiple gunshot wounds, Jauch said.

Salazar was standing in the driveway of his home doing repair work on his car when a dark-colored SUV pulled up to the curb about 4:40 p.m., Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza said.
A man got out of the front passenger side of the vehicle and shot at Salazar multiple times, Mendoza said. He then jumped back into the SUV and drove away, heading west on Norton Avenue.

Epifanio Mercado, a 37-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Jan. 2, in the 11500 block of Atlantic Avenue in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County coroner records.
The incident began about 12:25 p.m., when Mercado, also known as Rodolfo Rojo Melendres, 42, walked out of a florist’s shop and was standing next to his pickup truck, which was parked out front, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Victor Lewandowski said.
Someone wearing a hoodie walked up, pulled out a gun and shot him multiple times, Lewandowski said.
Mercado was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead at 2:20 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Nicholas Robertson, a 28-year-old black man, was shot and killed by deputies Saturday, Dec. 12, at 12131 South Long Beach Boulevard in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide investigators.
The incident started about 10:53 a.m. when the department began receiving 911 calls about a black man yelling and shooting a gun into the air near the corner of Alpine Avenue and Palm Avenue, said Lt. Eddie Hernandez.
The man, later identified as Robertson, continued walking north and then east, with reports coming in about him at Carlin Avenue and North Santa Fe Avenue, before two deputies confronted him about two blocks away, at an Arco Station on South Long Beach Boulevard, near Magnolia Avenue.
