Nicholas Anthony Pletcher, a 23-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, Aug. 21, in the 1500 block of San Bernardino Avenue in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 6:30 p.m., officers from the Pomona Police Department received a call of shots fired in the area, according to a news release from the department.
While officers were on their way to the area, they received another call that a shooting victim was in the 1700 block of Appleton Way, less than a block away.
Pletcher, who was found in an alley, was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:43 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Police believe that two Latinos in their 20s were involved in the shooting and fled westbound on San Bernardino Avenue.

Justin Lishey, a 30-year-old black man, died Sunday, Aug. 21, after he was shot in the 12400 block of Longacre Avenue in Granada Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 9 p.m. on Aug. 20, Lishey and two others were wounded by gunfire at a large home that had been rented for the Millions of Models Mansion Pool Party, police said. The party, which was attended by more than 100 people, was heavily advertised on social media and through fliers.
Lishey, a rapper who is also known as Kid Cali, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:13 a.m. early the next day.
Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Bob Green said that investigators believe a fight broke out shortly before the shooting.
Police say the presence of numerous security cameras on the mansion grounds will aid the investigation.
Gabriel De Le Torre, a 32-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, Aug. 19, in the 2100 block of Broach Avenue in Duarte, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
De Le Torre was in his backyard with a few relatives and friends when his neighbor joined the group, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Eddie Hernandez.
The neighbor and his family live in a smaller house on the same lot, and they shared the backyard, Hernandez said.
Witnesses told investigators they aren't sure what sparked the neighbor's anger, but at some point "he felt disrespected," Hernandez said, and got a handgun from his house and began shooting.

Kenney Watkins, an 18-year-old black man, was shot and killed by a Los Angeles police officer Tuesday, Aug. 16, in the 400 block of West Century Boulevard in Vermont Vista, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 3:30 p.m., an officer on a motorcycle stopped a dark sedan in the area, Los Angeles Police Lt. Chris Ramirez said. During the traffic stop, Watkins, who was in the passenger seat, got out.
The officer told investigators he fired at Watkins because he saw Watkins start to turn toward him with a gun, said Det. Meghan Aguilar, an LAPD spokeswoman.
Watkins was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:48 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
No officers were injured during the incident. The officer who opened fire was not wearing a body camera.

Tatiana Alexandra Howard, a 48-year-old white woman, was shot and killed Sunday, Aug. 14, in the 100 block of Palos Verdes Boulevard in Redondo Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Howard, of San Bruno, Calif., was visiting her father, Robert Howard, 78, when the two got into a "family disagreement" around 9:15 p.m., said Torrance police spokesman Sgt. Paul Kranke
A niece and a cousin who were in the home at the time told investigators that the father pulled out a handgun and shot his daughter, Kranke said.
The other family members ran out of the apartment, Kranke said, and the niece ran to a neighbor who called the police.

William Clay Settle, a 22-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Aug. 13, in the 1700 block of East Avenue J-4 in Lancaster, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies found Settle lying on a walkway outside some apartments about 1:30 a.m. after they received a call about gunshots in the area, said Lt. Steve Jauch.
Settle was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:35 a.m. with multiple gunshot wounds, according to coroner’s records.
Jauch said Settle lived in another part of Lancaster, and investigators don’t know why he was at the apartment complex or what he was doing prior to the shooting,
Nobody has reported seeing the shooting, Jauch said, and investigators have no description of the gunman.

Fernando Zamorano, a 33-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Aug. 13, in the 6000 block of East Olympic Boulevard in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Zamorano was standing in the parking lot of Lito’s Corkroom around 1 a.m. when two Latinos walked by on the sidewalk, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Jauch.
Coroner’s records said Zamorano asked the men where they were from, but Jauch said he couldn’t confirm any conversation.
“We just know that two male Hispanics walked by him heading east and one of them produced a handgun and opened fire,” Jauch said.
Witnesses told investigators that the men were last seen running north through the parking lot and out of view, Jauch said.

Kenyada Thornton, a 27-year-old black man, was fatally shot Saturday, Aug. 13, in the 3300 block of West 63rd Street in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 10:45 a.m., a man pulled up to where Thornton was standing, got out of a car and the two got into an argument, said LAPD Det. Chris Barling.
The man then pulled out a gun and shot Thornton. The person, described only as a black man, got into a dark sedan, which fled south on Crenshaw Boulevard, Barling said.
Thornton was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:14 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Elena Lillian "Lily" Moore, a 16-year-old Latina, was stabbed to death Friday, Aug. 12, in the 9800 block of Shade Lane in Pico Rivera, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Elena was in her downstairs bedroom about 3:15 a.m. when she was stabbed repeatedly by someone who then ran out of the house, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The girl screamed and staggered into her mother’s bedroom, where she collapsed, according to the release. Her mother called 911, but Elena was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple stab wounds at 3:38 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Elena mentioned the name of her former boyfriend before she died, causing investigators to name him as a suspect in the case.
