Luis Humberto Virgen Jr., a 21-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, Sept. 23, as he was walking in the 15100 block of Grayland Avenue in Norwalk, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide investigators.
Virgen and a female friend were walking south on Grayland Avenue, through the parking lot of an elementary school, when a white vehicle drove up beside them about 10:34 p.m., said Lt. Steve Jauch with the sheriff's department.
Two Latino adults got out of the car and started shooting at the couple, Jauch said. He said he couldn’t comment on whether the shooters said anything before they began firing.
Virgen was hit by gunfire multiple times, Jauch said, and his companion was struck once. Virgen was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:52 p.m., according to Orange County coroner ...
