Fabian Acevedo, a 26-year-old Latino, was shot and killed on Sunday, Oct. 15, in the 1300 block of South Atlantic Boulevard in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene regarding a gunshot victim at 6:36 p.m., Lt. Rodney Moore said. They found Acevedo lying in an alley parking lot behind businesses and residences on the block, Moore said. 

Acevedo was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:13 p.m., according to coroner’s records. He lived with his mother in Montebello.

Investigators think Acevedo “was just minding his own business, walking down an alley” when he was shot, Sgt. Troy Ewing said. 

Investigators do not have any eyewitness accounts of the shooting, but after reviewing surveillance camera footage and getting a tip, Ewing said they arrested two suspects Nov. 3 in connection with the attack.

Warner Stern, a 59-year-old black man, died Monday, Oct. 16, after he was shot in the 1700 block of West 77th Street in Manchester Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

A group of men was playing dominoes about 11:20 a.m. when two black men believed to be in their late teens or early 20s walked up to three nearby teenagers and yelled a gang slur, Los Angeles Police Det. Chris Barling said.

The two men then pulled out guns and began shooting at the teens, who ran away, Barling said.  

The dominoes players tried to escape the gunfire, but the shooters turned to two of them – one of whom was Stern – who were hiding. The two gunmen then began firing at Stern and another man, Clifford Gordon Benton, 66, Barling said.

Stern was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:45 a.m. the next day, according …

 Willie Lee Williams, a 65-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Oct. 14, in the 11000 block of South Vermont Avenue in the Vermont Vista neighborhood of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene about 6:20 p.m. regarding a gunshot victim, said Lt. Rodney Moore. 

When they arrived, they found Williams lying on the sidewalk on the west side of South Vermont Avenue, with gunshot wounds in his lower torso and left arm, Moore said. 

Williams was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:41 p.m., according to coroner’s records. 

Williams lived in another part of Los Angeles, according to coroner’s records, and investigators don’t have any information about what Williams was doing before the shooting, or a motive for the shooting. They also don’t have any suspect information.

Michael David Lopez, a 44-year-old Latino, was fatally shot by police on Saturday, Oct. 14, in the 2800 block of South Sepulveda Boulevard in Torrance, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Torrance police spotted Lopez, who was driving a green Ford Ranger and was believed to be under the influence, and tried to pull him over about 2 a.m., according to a news release. Lopez refused to stop, and a chase began, authorities said.

Police twice tried to stop Lopez by hitting the back of his truck in an effort to send it into a spin, a tactic known as a Pursuit Intervention Technique, or a PIT maneuver. The second attempt ended in the 2800 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, where police shot Lopez, the release said.

He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:44 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Demetric Carr, a 26-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, Oct. 12, near Rodeo Road and Chesapeake Avenue in Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 3:35 a.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call of shots fired in the area and found Carr suffering from gunshot wounds, Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido said.

Carr was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:41 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Police think Carr was on his way to work when he got into an argument with multiple men, which resulted in the shooting.

A witness told police that a dark-colored sedan sped away from the scene, Garrido said.

Carr was not a documented gang member, police said.

Cameron Troy Neal, a 39-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the 300 block of West Pondera Street in Lancaster, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Shortly before the shooting, Neal was with friends about 9 p.m. inside the business space he rented in Suite A of Pondera Plaza at the northwest corner of West Pondera Street and Trevor Avenue,  said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Derrick Alfred. 

Neal and the other people were hanging out, Alfred said, when a man in a hoodie walked into the shop and began shooting, Alfred said. 

The man didn’t speak, Alfred said. “He just came in and opened fire.”

Neal, a resident of Lancaster, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:14 p.m., according to coroner’s records. 

No other injuries were reported.

Rafael Arturo Gonzalez, a 37-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Wednesday, Oct. 11, near the intersection of Towne and Vinton avenues in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Pomona police responded about 9 a.m. to call about a shooting in the area, according to Sgt. Brian Hagerty, and found several bullet casings. 

The 911 caller said a man in a vehicle had been shot, Hagerty said. A friend in the vehicle drove Gonzalez to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:07 a.m., according to coroner’s records. 

Police are looking at security footage of the area and interviewing witnesses.

Donald Jo Gostel, a 65-year-old white male, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, after sustaining blunt force trauma in Azusa, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Danny Bunthung, a 21-year-old Asian man, was fatally shot Tuesday, Oct. 10, in the 1600 block of East Anaheim Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

About 9:30 p.m., Long Beach police responded to the area of Anaheim Street and Walnut Avenue about shots fired at a nearby liquor store. Officers found Bunthung and three other men with multiple gunshot wounds. 

Bunthung was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:35 p.m., according to coroner's records. Another victim, Dallas Tai Som, 22, was pronounced dead at a hospital. Two others were transported to the hospital and recovered from their wounds. 

Police believe Bunthung and Som got into a fight at the liquor store with other several people, which escalated to a shooting, according to a news release. The suspects then fled the store.

Detectives later identified Morris Om, 30, and Savanna Sok, 30, as suspects. Om was arrested …

Oracio Garcia, a 29-year-old Latino, was killed Sunday, Oct. 8, after he was struck by a car in the 16600 block of Paramount Boulevard in Paramount.

Garcia and a friend were at Buchones Bar at Paramount Boulevard and 70th Street around 1:30 a.m. when they got into an argument with four other men, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza said.

The argument turned physical and spilled outside, Mendoza said.

During the fight, one of the men got into his car and drove the wrong way on Paramount, heading north in the southbound lane, Mendoza said.

The car struck Garcia, and afterward, another of the four assailants got in the vehicle. The car, a dark sedan, was last seen heading north on Paramount, Mendoza said.

Garcia, a Paramount resident, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:16 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

DeAnthony Wills, a 28-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, Oct. 8, in the 2600 block of Lantana Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Wills, a resident of Perris, was visiting friends in the neighborhood about 6 p.m. when he got into an argument with a man in the middle of the street, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza.

The other man pulled out a gun and began shooting at Wills, Mendoza said. The shooter, a black man in his 20s, then got into a white sedan and drove away, heading east on Lantana and north on Wadsworth Avenue, until he was out of view, Mendoza said. 

Wills was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:42 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Jesse Willie Ingram, a 47-year-old Black male, died Sunday, Oct. 8, after sustaining blunt force trauma near 835 Stanford Ave. in Downtown, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Albert Garcia, a 58-year-old Latino, was shot and killed by police officers Sunday, Oct. 8, in the 100 block of Harding Avenue in San Fernando, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

San Fernando police officers were called to Garcia's apartment about 11 a.m. after neighbors reported hearing a woman screaming from inside the apartment, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Joe Mendoza, whose Homicide Bureau team is investigating the shooting. 

When the officers arrived, they tried to contact the people inside, but Garcia refused to open the door, Mendoza said. 

The officers forced their way inside the apartment to check on the woman's safety and encountered Garcia, who was armed with a large kitchen knife, according to Mendoza. 

"They attempted to spray him with OC [pepper spray] to get him to comply," Mendoza said, then officers fired their weapons.
