Bryan Donte Isrel, a 42-year-old black man, died on Tuesday, Feb. 11, after he was shot in the 1200 block of West 97th Street in the Westmont area of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
The shooting happened around 12:40 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, after Isrel, a resident of Long Beach, parked his car and began walking with a companion to a friend's home, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Derrick Alfred.
Someone got out of a car across the street, ran toward the two with a gun and opened fire, striking Isrel in the head, Alfred said. Neighbors reported the gunfire and deputies found Isrel lying in a driveway.
He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead two days later at 1:45 p.m., according to coroner's records. The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the head.

Timothy Lamont Ware Jr., a 22-year-old black man, was fatally shot on Monday. Feb. 10, in the 6900 block of Crafton Avenue in Bell, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner records.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies were called to the residential area regarding shots fired about 6:50 p.m., said Lt. Charles Calderaro. The deputies found a car crashed into a parked car, and Ware unconscious in the driver's seat with gunshot wounds.
Ware was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:22 p.m., according to coroner's records. The cause of death was listed as gunshot wounds to the chest.
Calderaro said it appeared Ware was driving when he was shot, and only traveled a few feet before his car struck the parked car.

Anthony Rodriguez, a 39-year-old Latino, died on Sunday, Feb. 9, after he was shot in the 6100 block of Southside Drive in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Rodriguez was talking with a friend in front of an acquaintance's house about 10:20 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, when two Latino adults walked up, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Derrick Alfred.
The newcomers mentioned their gang affiliation and then began beating Rodriguez with a baseball bat, Alfred said. Rodriguez ran up the driveway to the back of the house, trying to get away, but one of the attackers pulled a gun and fired.
"He tried to get into the house to get away," Alfred sad. "He got to the door, but he couldn't get through."
The gunman and his companion fled from the scene on foot, Alfred said.

Daniel Michael Baker, a 50-year-old white man, was found dead Sunday, Feb. 9, in the 4100 block of Wilshire Boulevard in Windsor Square, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Officers responded to a call of a shooting about 1:30 p.m. and found Baker in an apartment with gunshot wounds, said Los Angeles Police Det. Sean Kinchla.
Another person had found Baker and called police.
Baker was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:54 p.m., according to coroner's records.
Police believe Baker was shot the previous night and are trying to determine why.

A person called authorities around 10:25 a.m. to report a man pushing a large blue plastic container out of a trailer to a dumpster, said Los Angeles Sheriff's Det. Louie Aguilera.
Officers arrived and began speaking to the witness, then began looking for the large plastic container, Aguilera said.
Officers found Velasquez-Hernandez inside the dumpster stuffed in a container. An autopsy determined that she had been strangled, according to coroner's records.

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Jan. 29, Meller got into an argument outside a home with another man who shot him, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.
The other man fled, and Meller was found with gunshot wounds by another person, police said.

David Isaac Torrez, a 45-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, Feb. 3, in the 2000 block of South San Antonio Avenue in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner Coroner’s records.
About 8:31 a.m, officers from the Pomona Police Department responded to a call of gunshots, police said in a statement.
Officers arrived and found Torrez on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds. Torrez was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:48 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Police did not release additional information about the circumstances of the shooting.
