Taji Nafis Tavie, a 34-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the 1500 block of West 107th Street in Westmont, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m., a man in a black mid-1980s Oldsmobile Cutlass drove up into the area, got out of the car and began shooting at Tavie’s 34-year-old roommate and the man’s 36-year-old girlfriend, said Lt. Mike Rosson with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Tavie heard the gunshots, stepped outside and was shot, Rosson said.

Tavie was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:31 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

The roommate and his girlfriend, whose names were not released for their safety, were not hit by gunfire, Rosson said.

Neither Tavie nor his roommate were affiliated with gangs.

Investigators believe the shooting could be retaliation from a gang party in the area from the previous week.

Devin Dupree Glapion, a 27-year-old black male, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, after being shot in Inglewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Vincent Lewis Clardy, a 40-year-old black male, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Crystallyn May Nguyen, an 18-year-old Asian woman, was shot and killed Tuesday, Oct. 8, in the 11700 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard in Inglewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Police say Nguyen’s ex-boyfriend confronted her current boyfriend, Datwan Henderson, 22, in an apartment about 12:51 p.m., according to the Inglewood Police Department.

The ex-boyfriend, later identified as Justin Marquis Scott, 19, is accused of brandishing a gun, entering the apartment and shooting Nguyen, Henderson and his grandmother, Dora Lee Dawson, 64.

Nguyen was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead at 1:52 p.m., according to coroner’s records. Dawson also died in the shooting. Henderson survived.

Scott has been charged with two counts of special circumstances murder and one count of attempted murder, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Dora Lee Dawson, a 64-year-old black woman, was shot and killed Tuesday, Oct. 8, in the 11700 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard in Inglewood, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Dawson was shot while attempting to protect her grandson, Datwan Henderson, 22, after he was confronted and shot in an apartment about 12:51 p.m.

The gunman also shot and killed Henderson’s girlfriend, Crystallyn May Nguyen, 18.

Justin Marquis Scott, 19, Nguyen’s ex-boyfriend, has been charged with two counts of special circumstances murder and one count of attempted murder, according to the L.A. County district attorney’s office.

Dawson was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead at 1:46 p.m., according to coroner’s records. Nguyen also died in the shooting. Henderson survived.

Nery Eduardo Chigua-Cheguen, a 27-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, Oct. 8, near West 82nd Street and South Hoover Street in Vermont Knolls, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Chigua-Cheguen, a factory worker,  had dropped his mother off at a bus stop about 5 a.m. and was at a stoplight when a dark-colored sedan pulled up, said LAPD Det. Supervisor Sal LaBarbera.

A man got out of the car and began shooting at Chigua-Cheguen, LaBarbera said. The shooter then fled.

Chigua-Cheguen was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:22 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Carlos Cabrera, a 52-year-old Latino male, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, after sustaining blunt force trauma in Alhambra, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Stacy Goff, a 56-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Oct. 7, near West 38th street and Broadway Place in Historic South-Central, according to L.A. County coroner’s records,

About 5:20 a.m., Goff approached a white pickup truck and someone inside fired multiple gunshots at him, said LAPD Officer Drake Madison.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:57 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

There was no known motive for the shooting, and authorities did not have a further description of the truck.

Jeremiah Jonathan Cockrum, a 20-year-old black male, died Monday, Oct. 7, in Westlake, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Jesus Manuel Escapite Jr., a 23-year-old Latino male, died Monday, Oct. 7, after being shot in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Rodell Revels Jr., a 32-year-old black man, died Sunday, Oct. 6, after he was shot in a vehicle near West 105th street and Denker Avenue in Westmont, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Revels was sitting in a parked car with Duwan Arvaden McKeever, 24, Oct. 5 about 10 p.m. when a person walked up to the car and shot both men, said Lt. Dave Dolson with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

There was a large party going on nearby, and Dolson said he did not know whether the two men were “coming, going or staying.”

Revels died at 1:34 the next morning, according to coroner’s records. McKeever died at the scene.

Herman Johnson, a 74-year-old black man, was found dead Sunday, Oct. 6, in the 3700 block of South Western Avenue in Exposition Park, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Johnson was apparently shot while on his daily walk and was discovered by a passerby on the sidewalk at 6:20 a.m., said LAPD Det. Supervisor Sal LaBarbera.

Initially, paramedics thought Johnson had died of natural causes, but when the coroner arrived, it was discovered that he had been shot in the head, LaBarbera said.

Johnson, a retired city employee, was pronounced dead at 7 a.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records.

Anthony Anderson, a 43-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, Oct. 6, in the 300 block of East 90th Street in Green Meadows, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Anderson was watering his front lawn about 9 a.m. when a man approached and fired multiple shots, said LAPD Det. Supervisor Sal LaBarbera.

The shooter ran southbound on South San Pedro Road.

Anderson was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:39 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Darrell Atkinson, a 49-year-old black man, was shot and killed by a sheriff’s deputy Sunday, Oct. 6, near Venice Boulevard and the 10 Freeway in Mid-City, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 4 p.m., deputies from the Transit Services Bureau came into contact with Atkinson, who allegedly grabbed a wooden stick from a nearby shopping cart,  according to the coroner’s office and a news release from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said he then “advanced toward the deputies with the wooden stick overhead,” prompting deputies to open fire.

Atkinson was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
