Delaney Griffin, a 54-year-old black man, was fatally stabbed Saturday, Sept. 9, in the 700 block of North Fairfax Avenue in the Fairfax neighborhood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 9:30 p.m., Griffin was walking north on North Fairfax Avenue looking for medical attention and knocked on the door of an assisted living home, said LAPD Lt. John Radtke. The person who answered found Griffin bleeding profusely from a slit to the throat, and called paramedics who arrived and pronounced Griffin dead at the scene at 9:40 p.m., according to police and coroner’s records.
Police tracked the blood trail south, to an alley west of North Fairfax Avenue, where they found the crime scene, Radtke said.

Ruben Antonio Martinez Reyes, a 27-year-old Latino, died Thursday, Sept. 14, after he was shot in an alley behind the 9600 block of Kalmia Street in the Florence-Firestone neighborhood of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Investigators believe Martinez Reyes was walking in the alley in a neighborhood of homes and businesses when he was shot about 10:45 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Moore.
Martinez Reyes was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:02 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The cause of death was listed as multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators don’t have any suspect information or a motive for the shooting, Moore said.
A fundraising site set up to help his family said Martinez Reyes had a 12-year-old son.

Donal Esau Cervantes Ruano, a 34-year-old Latino male, died Friday, Sept. 8, after being shot in South Gate, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Austin Louis Jimenez, a 28-year-old white man, died Friday, Sept. 8, after being shot in the 12800 block of Penn Street in Whittier, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Whittier police responded about 3:15 a.m. to a call regarding a shooting in the area, according to Officer John Scoggins. Once there, police found what appeared to be a crime scene but no shooting victims.
About an hour later, West Covina police were called to an incident nearly 15 miles away. Jimenez and two other men were found inside a Nissan sedan. They had been shot.
Jimenez was pronounced dead at 4:46 a.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records. The other men were transported to a hospital and treated for their injuries.
Whittier police linked the two crime scenes and identified Whittier resident Peter Vidal Hernandez, 34, as a suspect.

Damien Michael Blakely, a 44-year-old Asian and black man, was shot and killed Thursday, Sept. 7 in the 5300 block of Monterey Road in Montecito Heights, according to authorities and coroner’s records.
About 8:45 p.m., Blakely, who was visiting family in the area, was washing a pickup truck parked in front of a home. A black sedan drove up and stopped, said Los Angeles Police Det. Jose Ramirez.
Blakely and a person inside the sedan “exchanged words,” then someone in the sedan shot Blakely, Ramirez said.
Blakely was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:58 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Police believe there was more than one person in the sedan, which fled south on Monterey Road.

Katy Ann Nosic, a 27-year-old white woman, was shot and killed Monday, Sept. 4, in the 17600 block of Castleton Street in the City of Industry, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Nosic had just finished her shift at the Golden Corral restaurant, 17635 Castleton St., where she had started working three weeks earlier as a baker in training, according to a statement from the restaurant.
About 10:23 p.m., Nosic walked outside to a waiting car when another vehicle drove up and a person got out with a gun, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza said. The person shot Nosic multiple times in the torso and then got back in the car and drove away in a light-colored van or SUV, Mendoza said.
Nosic, a resident of La Puente, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:45 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Jennifer Ball, a 36-year-old white woman, was found beaten to death Tuesday, Sept. 5, under the South Figueroa Street overpass, south of West Griffith Street in Carson, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
A person walking early that morning saw Ball lying on the Dominguez Channel Bike Path, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza said.
The pedestrian called 911, and paramedics pronounced Ball dead at the scene at 7:14 a.m., according to coroner’s records. The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma to the head.
Investigators think Ball was homeless and was living along the channel, Mendoza said. No weapon was found, and authorities have no motive for the killing.

Charles Alexander Young, a 25-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Sept. 4, in the 1000 block of East 83rd Street in the Florence area of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 10:40 a.m., police said Young and another man got into a dispute over a parking space. The man pulled a gun and shot Young repeatedly, LAPD Det. Dave Garrido said.
When officers responded, they found Young on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds, Garrido said.
Young was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:19 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Detectives have identified a suspect in the shooting, police said.

Jesus Estevez Martinez, a 27-year-old Latino, died from gunshot wounds on Sunday, Sept. 3, in the 10100 block of Firmona Avenue at the border of Inglewood and Lennox, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Estevez Martinez was a carjack victim, one of three people killed that evening during a shooting rampage that began in the home of Roberto Saucedo in the West Los Angeles community of Del Rey.
Saucedo, a 67-year-old Latino, was home about 6 p.m. with his girlfriend and his adult son, Juan Saucedo, 36, who also lived in the house, said Los Angeles Police West Bureau Homicide Lt. John Radtke.
Police were called to the residence at 6:18 p.m. regarding a shooting in progress, and discovered Roberto Saucedo injured and unresponsive, Radtke said.

Arturo Pulido, a 47-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Sept. 3, in the 10600 block of Mansel Avenue in Lennox, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Pulido, of Inglewood, was the last of three people killed that evening during a shooting rampage that began in the West Los Angeles community of Del Rey. He was shot to death in a garage.

James Sean Coprich, a 41-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, Sept. 3, in the 5700 block of South Figueroa Street in the Vermont-Slauson area of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 10:40 a.m., officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call of a shooting at a marijuana dispensary called Figueroa Collective, LAPD Det. Dave Garrido said.
Witnesses told police that a man walked into the dispensary and asked to speak with Coprich, Garrido said.
Coprich and the man went outside and got into an argument, the detective said.
The man pulled a gun and shot Coprich. He was taken to a hospital after the shooting, where he was pronounced dead at 5:57 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
