Christopher Louis Guillen, a 40-year-old Latino male, died Tuesday, April 16, after being stabbed in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Jamar Lamonte Mccollum, a 26-year-old black man, was found dead Monday, April 15, after he was shot in the 600 block of East Century Boulevard in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
About 7 a.m., Mccollum was found shot to death inside a gray Lexus in the area, said Los Angeles police Det. Nathan Kouri.
Mccollum’s body had been there for hours before it was discovered, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have few details about the death and have not identified a suspect.
Mccollum, a motorcycle mechanic, lived down the street from the crime scene and was not a gang member, police said. He had a 5-year-old son.
The next night, his mother, Jackie Mccollum, stood near the spot where her son was discovered, surrounded by other mothers who had lost a child to violence.

Mihoko Koike Parsa, a 38-year-old Japanese woman, was discovered shot to death Sunday, April 14, in the 9100 block of Foster Lane in Chatsworth, according to Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s records.
About 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon with shots fired, entered a home and found a man and a woman, later identified as Parsa and her 46-year-old husband, dead with gunshot wounds in an upstairs bedroom, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
Detectives discovered that the husband shot Parsa as she lay in bed, then shot himself.
The two young children the couple had in common were not injured and were taken to a hospital for observation, police said.

Michael Deon Hemphill III, a 29-year-old black man, was shot and killed Friday, April 12, in the 1300 block of East 111th Street in Watts, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.
About 11:05 p.m., Hemphill was at a gathering with a group of people when numerous shots were fired, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.
Three people, including Hemphill, were injured. A vehicle may have been involved in the shooting, Kouri said.
Hemphill was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:29 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
The other two people are expected to survive.

Emma Liza Melchor, a 27-year-old Latina, was pronounced dead on Thursday, April 11, after she was shot in the 1800 block of East Alondra Boulevard in Compton, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner records.
Melchor had been living with her family in Moreno Valley after she was paroled from prison in February, but she left home a short time later after a disagreement with her mother and started staying with friends in Compton, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Derrick Alfred.
"She didn't like her mom's rules," Alfred said.
On April 11, deputies were called to an abandoned commercial building around 8 p.m. after someone reported finding a dead woman inside.

Glenn Edward Mitchell, a 55-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, April 11, in the 10300 block of South Main Street in Broadway-Manchester, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.
About 6:20 p.m., a group of people were standing outside a liquor store when a vehicle drove by and a person inside began firing a gun at the group, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.
The shooting occurred near the route where people had gathered for the funeral procession for the slain rapper Nipsey Hussle.
Five people were wounded and taken to a hospital. Mitchell was pronounced dead at 6:52 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
The four who were wounded will survive, police said.

Shawn Robert Deontray Turner, a 28-year-old black male, died Wednesday, April 10, after being shot in Florence-Firestone, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Chyong Jen Tsai, a 76-year-old Asian woman, was pronounced dead on Tuesday, April 9, after she was found unconscious in the 300 block of of East Forest Avenue in Arcadia, according to Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner records.
Arcadia police went to Tsai's home after receiving a call about a person down, and found her lying in her backyard not breathing, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department news release.
Tsai and her husband, who was traveling out of country, are building a granny flat on their property, the Pasadena Star-Times reported. It was one of the construction workers who found her lying in her backyard, not breathing, shortly before 7 a.m.
She was pronounced dead at the scene at 7 a.m., but investigators say it's not clear how she died, The Times reported.

Edward Cole, a 31-year-old white man, was pronounced dead on Tuesday, April 9, after he was stabbed in the 41700 block of 156th Street East in Lake Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner records.
Cole was in the home he rented with his girlfriend, Melissa Burana Sombati, around 9:30 p.m. when the two got into an argument, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Derrick Alfred.
Witnesses told investigators that the couple continued arguing in the garage, where Burana Sombati allegedly stabbed Cole once in the chest, Alfred said.
Cole was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:50 p.m., according to coroner's records. The cause of death was listed as a stab wound to the chest.
