Imani Angelique Swaffi, 32
Imani Angelique Swaffi, a 32-year-old black woman, was stabbed to death Saturday, Aug. 26, in the 3600 block of West 132nd Street in Hawthorne, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Swaffi lived with her boyfriend, Ilami Kari Igoni, their 1-year-old child and Swaffi’s sister, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza said.
The sister came home at 10:06 p.m. and found Swaffi unconscious and bleeding from multiple stab wounds, Mendoza said.
Igoni pushed the woman outside, where she called 911. When deputies arrived, they found Igoni in the bedroom with a large knife protruding from his chest, Mendoza said.
Swaffi was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 10:44 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Igoni’s stabbing was ruled a suicide by the coroner’s office.
The couple’s child was not injured, Mendoza said, and was turned over the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
