Joshua Allen Pitts, a 35-year-old white man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Oct. 30, near 252nd Street and Normandie Avenue in Harbor City, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 6:30 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Harbor Division responded to a call of a shooting and found Pitts suffering from a gunshot wound with people trying to help surrounding him, police said.
Pitts was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:39 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators determined that moments before the shooting, Pitts got into an argument with another person, said LAPD Officer Jeffrey Tiffin.
The gunman walked into an alley, turned around and shot Pitts, Tiffin said, striking him in the chest.

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department released surveillance footage Thursday in hopes that the public can identify two vehicles involved in the fatal shooting of a 57-year-old grandfather last month.
About 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 17, Eric Guillory was playing a game at a picnic table in the Rancho San Pedro housing development near West 2nd and South Centre streets when multiple vehicles pulled up.
A person opened fire, and Guillory was struck once.
Police were able to obtain video from the area that shows two vehicles — a black sedan and a gray four-door sedan — traveling together. The cars turned south on Palos Verdes Street from West 1st Street moments before the shooting.
The black sedan appears to have been following the gray sedan.

Chloe Summer Evans, an 18-year-old black woman, was shot and killed Friday, Oct. 25, near West 104th Street and South Figueroa Street in Vermont Vista, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.
About 6 a.m., Evans was riding in an SUV with two others when another vehicle pulled up and she was struck by gunfire, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.
Evans was first taken to the LAPD’s Southeast Division, then taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
The suspect vehicle was described as a light-colored sedan. It’s unknown what occurred between the two vehicles in the moments before the incident.
Detectives are seeking witnesses to the shooting.

Manuel Eugenio "Manny" Marquez, a 44-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the 1700 block of Artesia Boulevard in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner records.
Marquez, a father and grandfather from Paramount, had just started working at the Bottoms Up Sports Bar earlier that evening to make money for the holidays, owner Suzanne Blevins said during a telephone interview on Oct. 25.
Shortly after midnight, he was shot during a "miniature mass shooting," as Blevins described it, by a first-time customer who had spent the evening at the bar watching the Lakers basketball game and having friendly conversations with her staff and other patrons.

Delfon Garnell Kinney Sr., 48, was fatally shot Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the 1700 block of Artesia Boulevard in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner records.
Investigators believe Kinney, a resident of Long Beach, shot at least two other people in the Bottoms Up Sports Bar before he was shot by a bar patron and then police officers, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.
When SWAT officers entered the bar, they found Kinney lying unresponsive on the ground, holding a firearm, according to the news release.
Both Kinney and Manuel Eugenio "Manny" Marquez, 44, were pronounced dead at the scene around 12:20 a.m., shortly after the shooting began.

Johnny Tucker, a 49-year-old black man, was found dead Thursday, Oct. 23, in the 1000 block of West Florence Avenue in Vermont-Slauson, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.
About 8 a.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were called to the area and found Tucker in the stairwell leading to a church, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido.
Tucker was pronounced dead at 8:05 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Police said that Tucker appeared to have been assaulted and had signs of blunt force trauma.
The motive is unknown.
The last time Tucker was seen alive was about 11:30 p.m. the night before. Police said Tucker slept in the area where he was found.

A 22-year-old man was sentenced to 21 years in prison Thursday in the fatal shooting of a man nearly two years ago at the Compton Metro Blue Line station.
A jury on Sept. 12 convicted Arthur Lee Lewis of voluntary manslaughter in the killing of Travon Brown Jr., 21. The jury also found gun allegations against Lewis to be true.
The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 3, 2017. Lewis and his stepbrother Eric Roberts, 23, exited the Metro Blue Line train at the Compton station, yelling gang names and asking people what gang they belonged to, according to prosecutors and witness testimony at trial.
The duo approached Brown, Deputy Dist. Atty. Luke Sisak said, and a fight ensued. Roberts threw the first punch, Sisak said.
