Todd Dalon Dunlap, 45
Todd Dunlap, a 45-year-old black man, was found Dec. 31, 2017, with fatal stab wounds in the 900 block of Elm Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Long Beach police responded about 6 a.m. to call about a man down, according to a news release. Police found Dunlap in an alley with an injury to his head, the release said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:23 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Later that day, officers arrested Ernest Weston, 87, and James Leonard Pettie, 58, at the apartment they had shared with Dunlap in the 400 block of 5th Street, less than a mile from the scene, according to officials. Police say Weston stabbed Dunlap and Leonard helped dump the body in the alley. Authorities did not disclose the location of the attack.

Jorge Alberto Reyes Jr., a 23-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Dec. 31, at 8622 Balboa Blvd. in Northridge, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly after 6 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired and found Reyes in the parking lot of a Kentucky Fried Chicken, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
Reyes was pronounced dead at the scene at 7 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators think Reyes and two friends drove to the KFC and the driver of the car went inside, Los Angeles Police Det. Ryan Verna said.
A Latino then approached the car and began arguing with Reyes, police said. The man punched Reyes then pulled out a gun and began firing, Verna said.
Reyes got out of the car and began running but was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground.

Major Alan Langer, a 75-year-old white man, was shot to death, Friday, Dec. 29, in the 300 block of East San Antonio Drive in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 2:25 p.m., Long Beach police responded to call about a shooting at a law firm in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood, according to Sgt. Brad Johnson. Officers found Langer and another man dead. Langer was pronounced dead at 3:01 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
The other man, later identified as John Alexander Mendoza, 58, shot Langer and another man and then shot himself in the head, Johnson said. The men were partners at the law office of Perona, Langer, Beck, Serbin, Mendoza and Harrison, according to police and the firm.

Donie Vanitzian, a 67-year-old white woman, was found dead Thursday, Dec. 28, in the 4200 block of Corinth Avenue in Del Rey, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 5:38 p.m., police responded to a home on a welfare check and found Vanitzian on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head, LAPD Lt. John Radtke said.
A man on the ground next to Vanitzian was partially conscious, and detectives think he may have ingested pills, Radtke said. The man left a suicide note, police said, and investigators found a revolver on the ground under him.

Both men had been shot multiple times, Moore said, and were pronounced dead at the scene at 10:38 p.m.
The cousins were born just nine days apart and grew up in Compton, said Brian Greer’s best friend, Kwiince Lipscomb, but as teens, they took separate paths.
