William Michael Jennings, 35
William Jennings, a 35-year-old black man, was stabbed to death Friday, Dec. 20, in the 3300 block of West Jefferson Boulevard in Jefferson Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Jennings was walking down the street about 10:15 p.m. when he got into an argument with another man, said LAPD Det. Supervisor Sal LaBarbera.
The argument turned physical and the man pulled out a knife and stabbed Jennings multiple times, LaBarbera said.
According to surveillance footage, the assailant walked off, leaving Jennings on the ground. Jennings was pronounced dead on the sidewalk at 10:35 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
The assailant is described as a black man, 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to possibly 6 feet tall and weighing 180 pounds.

Rosie Marie Manuel, 73
Rosie Marie Manuel, a 73-year-old black female, was strangled to death Dec. 19, 2013, in the 44300 block of Beech Avenue in Lancaster, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Manuel was discovered by a family member in the kitchen of her home, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.
She was found dead with her upper torso on an open oven door and the oven tipped over slightly on top of her, according to prosecutors.
Her son, Shelton Eugene Bradley, a 49-year-old black male, was arrested the next day.
According to court testimony, Bradley told detectives that God had told him his mother was a witch and commanded him to kill and burn the witches. Bradley then strangled his mother, according to the release, and tried to place her in the oven.

Arrest: 53-year-old man in custody
Long Beach police have arrested Robert Rubio Jr., a 53-year-old Latino, in connection with the shooting death of Monica Barbosa, a 54-year-old white woman.
Investigators said Rubio, of Hawaiian Gardens, is a documented gang member who was in an ongoing dispute with other people who lived at the home in the 3500 block of Monica Avenue. According to police, Rubio allegedly shot Barbosa and an unidentified man who survived the attack after they greeted him at the residence.

Monica Barbosa, a 54-year-old white woman, was shot and killed Tuesday, Dec. 17, in the 3500 block of Monica Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Long Beach police received a call that a person had been shot about 10 p.m., and found a wounded Barbosa inside a converted garage where she had apparently been living, according to a department news release. Further investigation revealed that an unidentified 52-year-old man had also been shot and taken to a hospital by a friend.
Barbosa was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:24 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
