Johnny Danny Delgado, a 16-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, Jan. 1, in the 23400 block of South Avalon Boulevard in Carson, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Delgado lived in the condominium complex where the shooting occurred, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Dave Coleman. He was standing in the driveway between the complex’s garages about 8:29 p.m. when he was shot multiple times by two males wearing hoodies, the lieutenant said. 

Investigators have no other suspect descriptions, and no information about where the assailants went after the shooting. Coleman said.

“We’re not getting much help from possible witnesses,” he said. 

Delgado was a gang member, and investigators believe the shooting was gang-related. 

This is the second fatal shooting in three months in the 23000 block of Avalon Boulevard in Carson.

Leon Scott, a 28-year-old black man, was fatally shot Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015,  in the 15600 block of South Washington Avenue in East Compton, according to Los Angeles coroner’s records. 

Hours before the killing, Martin Ernesto Cervantes, a 24-year-old Latino, and several other men had allegedly stolen a U-Haul from a Long Beach parking lot, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Det. Richard Biddle said.

About 10:30 p.m., Scott was at home with his wife in their Long Beach apartment, Biddle said. Scott then heard his car alarm go off when a U-Haul truck backed into his sedan.

Scott left his apartment to confront the driver, but the truck drove off. Scott tailed the driver for about a block until the truck stopped in the 15600 block of South Washington Avenue.

Scott got out of his car and approached the truck, Biddle said. Cervantes then opened the truck door and opened fire, authorities said. …

Ernesto Calzadilla, a 27-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, in the 2200 block of Batson Avenue in Rowland Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

On New Year’s Eve, Calzadilla attended a celebration at his friend’s family home. During the party, Michael John Morey fatally shot his son’s bedridden mother, his girlfriend and Calzadilla, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. John Corina. The three victims also included Linda Patricia Merrell, 48, and Betty Jean Morey, 54.

Calzadilla’s friend, Christopher Morey, a 33-year-old white man, wrestled the gun away from his father and shot him once, killing him, officials said.

All four victims were pronounced dead at 8:40 p.m.

Corina said the group had been drinking at the time, and that investigators were trying to determine whether a dispute between the father and his girlfriend over the use of the washing machine played a role in …

Linda Patricia Merrell, a 48-year-old white female, died Thursday, Dec. 31, after being shot in Rowland Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Betty Jean Morey, a 54-year-old white female, died Thursday, Dec. 31, after being shot in Rowland Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Michael John Morey, a 54-year-old white man, was fatally shot in the 2200 block of Batson Avenue in Rowland Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

A group of people were having a New Year’s Eve celebration at a home when Morey fatally shot his son’s bedridden mother, his girlfriend and a friend, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. John Corina.

His son, Christopher Morey, a 33-year-old white man, wrestled the gun away from his father and shot him once, killing him, officials said.

Adan Alexis Corea-Santillana, a 37-year-old Latino male, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, after being shot in Panorama City, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ian Antonio Davis-Alexander, a 23-year-old black man, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, after he was shot in the 900 block of East 120th Street in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after 6:05 p.m. on Dec. 29, Davis-Alexander was standing outside an apartment complex, LAPD Det. Dave Garrido said.

Two people walked up and opened fire, striking Davis-Alexander.

Davis-Alexander was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead Dec. 30 at 4:08 p.m.

Tien Phuong Hua, a 33-year-old Vietnamese man, was killed in an officer-involved shooting Tuesday, Dec. 29, in the 3500 block of Strang Avenue in Rosemead, according to Los Angeles County coroner records.

Hua was shot in the backyard of his family home as officers were trying to serve arrest and search warrants connected to the fatal shooting of Henry Xavier Estrada, a 27-year-old Latino who was killed Sunday, Dec. 27, in the Hollywood Hills.

The dispute that led to the two shootings “appears to have been a relationship issue,” LAPD West Bureau Lt. John Radtke said.

Estrada was dating Hua’s ex-girlfriend, Radtke said, and the two had gone to a rental “party house” on North Sycamore Avenue, near Camrose Drive, the night Estrada was killed. Investigators think Hua used electronic communication to trick Estrada and his girlfriend into walking out of the house, Radtke said.

Henry Xavier Estrada, a 27-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Dec. 27, in the 6900 block of Camrose Drive, near North Sycamore Avenue in the Hollywood Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Estrada and his girlfriend had gone to a rental “party house” on North Sycamore Avenue, when a man lured the couple outside via electronic communication, said LAPD Lt. John Radtke.

“They thought they were meeting someone else,” he said.

According to witnesses, the man confronted the couple when they walked outside, and then chased Estrada up Camrose Drive and shot him, Radtke said.

The man, later identified as Tien Phuong Hua, a 33-year-old Vietnamese man, then came back and tried to kidnap his former girlfriend, who police say was dating Estrada, pulling her into his car, investigators say. Hua became distracted, however, Radtke said, and the woman was able to escape before Hua drove east …

 John Jose Enriquez, a 46-year-old Latino, was killed Saturday, Dec. 26, after he was stabbed in the 11100 block of Long Beach Boulevard in Lynwood, according to coroner's records. 

A passerby called the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department at 3:42 p.m. and reported that a man was unresponsive on a bus bench, said Lt. Joe Mendoza. 

When deputies arrived, the man who was later identified as Enriquez "looked like he was just sitting on a bench and resting," Mendoza said. "There was nothing out of the ordinary until you looked really carefully."

Investigators discovered that Enriquez had been stabbed in the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:58 p.m., according to coroner's records. 

Enriquez was a homeless man who had been living in a cardboard shelter on a vacant lot near the bus bench, Mendoza said. Deputies found his belongings there that afternoon.

Dawn Hensley, a 41-year-old white woman, was killed Friday, Dec. 25, when she was set on fire in the 1500 block of Cordova Street in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Pomona police officers were called to the scene  after neighbors reported seeing a person later identified as Hensley run out of her home engulfed in flames, according to a department news release. 

Hensley collapsed on the street and neighbors came to help her until Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived, according to the release. She was taken to a nearby hospital with severe burns, and she was pronounced dead at 1:44 p.m., according to coroner’s records. 

According to Pomona police investigators, Hensley got into a heated argument with the father of her children, Clarence Duwell Dear, a 51-year-old black man, and the argument turned physical. Dear allegedly chased Hensley and doused her with gasoline, and then …

Jason Carl Haddock, a 37-year-old white male, died Friday, Dec. 25, after being shot in Winnetka, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Irving Giovanni Araujo, a 29-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, in the 12000 block of Downey Avenue in Downey, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

The incident began at 5:24 p.m. when the Downey Police Department received 911 calls about shots fired in the parking lot behind a large apartment complex, Sgt. Kevin McCaster said.

Shortly thereafter, the department also received reports about a gray Toyota Yaris that collided with parked cars near the shooting scene.

When officers arrived, they found Araujo lying in the parking lot,  McCaster said. 

Araujo, who lived in Los Angeles, was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:26 p.m. with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head, according to coroner’s records. 

The officers stopped two other men a short distance from the crashed Yaris, McCaster said. One had a gunshot wound, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. …
